Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg to Officiate Gay Wedding

On Saturday, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will become the first Supreme Court justice to officiate a gay wedding ceremony.

She will wed Michael M. Kaiser, president of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and John Roberts (an economist, not her colleague Chief Justice John Roberts, no relation).

"I think it will be one more statement that people who love each other and want to live together should be able to enjoy the blessings and the strife in the marriage relationship," Ginsburg said, according to The Washington Post.

The wedding will take place at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Many Washington bigwigs are expected to be in attendance.

"I can't imagine someone I'd rather be married by," Kaiser said.

The District of Columbia redefined marriage to include same-sex couples in 2010. This Summer, Ginsburg was in the majority in two decisions related to same-sex marriage.

One of those decisions struck down a provision in the Defense of Marriage Act that defined marriage as the union of one man and one woman for the purposes of federal law. The other upheld a lower court decision that struck down California's referendum defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

Ginsburg already has plans to officiate her second gay wedding in September.

So, we all know how Ginsberg will decide if the issue of gay marriage ever reaches the SUPREME COURT.

Washington, D.C. legalized gay marriage by vote of the City Council, not as a result of any court decision. So she is not pre-judging any case that may come before the Court.

That’ true. With judges like Ginsburg, if their ruling is consistent with the Constitution then it’s likely a happy accident or coincidence.

As deplorable as Ginsburg is, much of the blame for the coming Sup Court imposition of gay marriage nationwide lies with Ronald Reagan for giving us Anthony Kennedy, George H Bush for giving us Souter (who waited until Obama was elected before retiring so his liberal vote would be preserved), and possibly George W Bush for giving us Roberts.

If those 3 slots had gone to reliable conservatives, we’d likely have a 6-3 majority in favor of letting the states decide. They could have used DOMA and Prop 8 to issue sweeping, anti-activist decisions that might have lasted for years.

Now it’s just a matter of time before Kennedy gets his chance to finish what he started years ago when he came up with what Scalia rightly derides as the ‘sweet mystery of life’ method of constitutional interpretation.

Ecclesiastes 5
8 If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.

They’re here already....like hidden cops looking to catch speeders. They’ve already seen us before we saw them. Run for the hills spiritually and otherwise....and don’t look back!
