This is what my Republican Primary opponent answered here in Bowie, Texas -— copied from the Bowie News (print edition):

“The congressman fielded lots of irate questions about the Affordable Health Care Act or ‘Obamacare.’ Several citizens went so far as to suggest action be taken to impeach the president. . .

Several audience members chimed out ‘impeach him.’ Thornberry said first you have to look at what the constitution says is an impeachable offense and then, look at what is good for the country.

‘I went through an impeachment of a president. The House impeached him, but the Senate found him not guilty,’ he said referring to President Bill Clinton. ‘His party gained seats afterward and was stronger than ever. If he is removed who takes his place. Doing nothing or removing him, should not be the only two choices.’

Clinton was impeached on December 19, 1998. And he certainly deserved to be impeached for lying under oath (perjury) and obstruction of justice. In 2000 the Reps lost two seats in the House, which they still controlled. In 2002, they picked up 8 seats and in 2004 they picked up another 2.
