The impact of mass immigration on the U.S. can now be seen on a census map charting the ancestry of the 317 million people who call it home today.
Although the 2010 census left out questions about ethnicity, this map shows how it looked in 2000, according to Upworthy.
By far the largest ancestral group, stretching from coast to coast, is German.The peak immigration for Germans was in the mid-19th century as thousands were driven from their homes by unemployment and unrest.
Other large groups were African-Americans, who were mainly centered in the Southern regions, and Hispanics.
In many states, the Hispanic population doubled between the 2000 and 2010 census. In New Mexico, Hispanics outstripped whites for the first time, reaching 46 per cent compared to 40 per cent.
The figures reveal the changing face of the U.S., with the number of Hispanics up by 15 million by the 2010 census, from these figures in 2000.
Hispanic children now account for one in four American youngsters as a portrait emerges of a country with an aging white population and rapid minority growth.

So judging by the color chart ‘Americans’ only live in a few states, Germans occupy most of the rest of the country except for Hawaii, that’s where the ‘others’ live.
I’m old enough to remember when Vermont was a reliably Republican state.

Hell Since the Year I was Born, (June of '88) The Republicans have won Three Presidential Elections, and the Dems will aurgue out the ying yang about 2000. And Both those Wins were Bushes, something is wrong here guys.
As for Alaska, Ubama sold it off to the Russians because Sarah is from there.
Although Germany won WWII, contrary to what some people say, they never actually bombed Pearl Harbor.
