Earlier this evening at NewsBusters, Tim Graham noted that the Washington Post gave space, in an item entitled "Reagan Historians to Decry 'Ahistorical Caricature' as Racist in 'The Butler' Movie," to refute the false portrayal of the Gipper in that film.

Back when Reagan was an actor he played a district attorney who had to deal with the Klan. One of his lines was to charge the Klan with ‘desecrating the cross” by burning it. When he was,I think, a high school student he persuaded his parent to allow a visiting athlete stay in their house because local hotels were white only.

I seem to remember Reagan also had a long term correspondence with a black child.
