Back when Reagan was an actor he played a district attorney who had to deal with the Klan. One of his lines was to charge the Klan with ‘desecrating the cross” by burning it. When he was,I think, a high school student he persuaded his parent to allow a visiting athlete stay in their house because local hotels were white only.

I seem to remember Reagan also had a long term correspondence with a black child.
