The rabbit hole begins when you ask yourself why does the US Government want to topple Syrian Government sooooo badly? Obama drew a Red Line on purpose so that he could stage another “Fast and Furious” and blame the other guys. He got bitch slapped by Putin calling him a monkey with a hand grenade. Then moving anti missile cruisers into the area.
We are seeing 2 superpowers with 2 opposite objectives. Neither will forfeit their objectives.
Syria is is too important for both of them for some unknown reason. For some reason Putin has become very aggressive to Obama after the Snowden situation. Did Snowden show him something out of all that stolen data? Just sayin.

There was a posting that said Libya was caretaker of a lot of gold bullion, into trillions, for the European bankers including the Rothchilds who have a long history of nefarious shenanigans involving money. The article said it was known that Khadafi, who we helped get rid of, got this gold bullion shipped to Syria under control of Assad. The nations like the USA and particularly France with the Rothchilds and England would certainly have a big stake in recovering the gold bullion. I read to of talk that Russia wants to talk to the USA government about Syria. I would think that Russia would know if there is any European banker gold bullion in Syria. The plot thickens and again it just might be USA soldiers will die for someones booty. Last time it was for oil riches this time for gold.
