McCain Urges Lawmakers to Back Obama’s Plan for Syria
New York Times ^ | Sept 2, 2013 | JACKIE CALMES, MICHAEL R. GORDON and ERIC SCHMITT

Posted on 09/02/2013 2:26:28 PM PDT by Innovative

The White House pushed forward aggressively on Monday for Congressional approval of an attack on Syria as President Obama got tentative support from one of his most hawkish Republican critics, Senator John McCain of Arizona, for a “limited” strike — as long, Mr. McCain said, as the president did more to arm the Syrian opposition.

After an hourlong meeting with Mr. Obama at the White House, Mr. McCain emerged with Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, to say that the two senators’ discussions with Mr. Obama in the Oval Office had been “encouraging.” He also urged Congress to support Mr. Obama in his plan for military action in Syria, saying that a no vote would be “catastrophic” for the United States and its credibility in the world.

Graham is up for (ugh) re-election in 2014. The S.C. GOPers need to put up a good, solid conservative primary opponent (with no unseen baggage, because the Dems will find it).

I suspect that a lot of conservatives from other states will be willing to help underwrite (at legal levels) the challenger's races (primary and general).

Ah, “credibility,” that old slippery slope that got us into both Korea and Vietnam.

The Viet Cong and Chicoms didn’t nickname McCain “Songbird” for nothing.

Our dock mate flew with John McCain.........very arroant, he cheated in cards, terrible pilot, no one was surprised when he went down, and many weren’t surprised that he survived the POW camp. Lots of interesting stories but I always gave McCain the benefit of doubt regarding his imprisonment.

Let’s see, he claims to be a Republican.
But he acts like a Democrat (”He urged Congress to support Obama.”), he talks like a Democrat and walks their walk .....hmmmm.
It’s a good thing he’s a Republican. We almost stepped in this piece of ....

Senator McCain, thank you for your wonderful service in the military that is; now it time for you to retire, or even better let primary you with a tea party member. I’ve heard enough of your crazy RINO comments.

McCain was beat about the head too much while he was in Viet Nam. Not only has he lost credibility, he has lost all reason.

Linseed is facing three good, solid conservative primary opponents.

Which is not a bad idea, since if Linseed doesn't gain a majority, there will be a run-off vs the highest ranking conservative.

Which is exactly the scenario that Ted Cruz followed in defeating prohibitive favorite Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in Texas.

I’m tellin ya, its the “No Labels” doctrine that he and a couple of others are following to a T. There is a concerted effort to eliminate the parties.

http://www.nolabels.org/

Be sure to check out the “Our Work” dropdown. These scumbags are only using the GOP label as cover to destroy it from within. Also note that one of the No Labels co chairs is a former GOP presidential candidate.

Obama’s military likely has all sorts of plans. It’s a big part of what they do.

Obama: “John, I need you to come to the white house. Remember, we have the dirt on you. So, you WILL support me.”

McCain: “Can I bring Lindsey with me?”

They don’t need a plan. The CinC is a Democrat. It’s his job to have a plan.
