They better get on with it before demographics overwhelm them.

The blacks and Hispanics in TX are far more conservative than they are in CA.

Thanks for the ping!

If we have a vote...count me in as an “aye”.

For a long time, I thought that this would be terrible. Now, I wonder if I was wrong.

I would hate to see things come to the point where we'd have to leave the union for our own self preservation, but if it indeed comes to that, I'm in.

My guess is that if Texas goes, several other red states will join us. That would hasten the collapse of the remaining blue union, who would soon come to us bearing a white flag of surrender (and hungry bellies).

If you’re going for a Texas theme on the currency, George Washington really doesn’t belong in there (and no disrespect intended to the General). William Travis or even Chester Nimitz should do nicely, though.

You can keep your suggestions. LBJ was the sorriest son of a bitch to ever walk the ground in Texas.

And that’s just on the state level. Then you have all the jurisdictional issues involving the split between cities and counties. And then there is the all powerful TXDOT. My son lives three miles from me but he is now in the city and I, thankfully, am still in the County for maybe three more years.

Remember when Perry was running for President and the MSM would begin talking about politics in Texas - they just didn’t have a clue.

Re the Lt. Governor - sure hope we can uproot Dewhurst. David Patterson - who is running against Dewhurst - strongly favors more green cards and work visas for illegals, as does Abbott who is running for Governor. Should prove interesting to say the least.

One of my current campaigns is to push for a NO vote on the State Amendment on the reverse mortgage issue. Sounds good on paper but, as with many other issues, Austin politicians failed to do due diligence and we are being asked to support an amendment of a program which is likely to undergo major changes in October if the Washington Senate ever gets around to voting on it.

The first thing we need to do is send all the illegals back to Mexico, then close our borders. I love the idea of Texas being a sovereign nation again. we should never joined the union IMHO.

Dewhurst has to go. Who to replace him is a question. I'm sorta crossways with Patterson after his campaign refused to answer my questions.

I would hate to see things come to that as well. I don’t see separation as being a peaceful thing.

No doubt other red states would follow.

A balkanized country is not good. But doesn’t hurt to a “Plan B” in place...just in case. (Yep, I am a planner. Just in case plan A doesn’t pan out, I usually Plans A thru at least M in reserve. :))

...this comment is a little off subject but not too much as it is about an asset that Texas has (close proximity to Mexico; you might say “swimming distance”) that will prove absolutely priceless as an independent country.

Namely, I was at the car wash in Central Texas today when I observed something worthy of a comment to my 37 year old son as we waited under a shade tree for the workers to finish my car. What I observed was approximately 20 Mexican guys cleaning and drying off all the Suv’s, Mercedes and BMW’s along with my Toyota Avalon. My comment to my son was “take a look at that picture, do you see any white guys out there working in the 100 degree plus heat?” “Do you see any blacks, women, trannys or homosexuals?” The answer was of course no. I closed with “so make no mistake, this Texas miracle economy we have would collapse OVERNIGHT without all those hundreds of thousands of Mexican laborers all over this great state doing the HARD work that whites and blacks won’t do”. And, as we all know, about half are legal and the other half not so much.

So, the ANSWER!!! Close that damn border air tight! Give them all bulletproof ID cards and a work permit and a conditional driving license with no access to government freebies available to full citizens. After that, they can apply for citizenship and become a citizen IN LINE WITH EVERYBODY ELSE WANTING INTO THE GREAT REPUBLIC OF TEXAS!

Notwithstanding any of the foregoing, I believe that Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Louisiana will want to JOIN with Texas when the day and time comes for a decision. A famous saying on this point is “the only thing that stays the same is that EVERYTHING changes”. The libs have outsmarted us and stolen the former USA from us and it is time for the funeral.

What is going on with reverse mortgages?

I did a quick google and didn’t see anything.

Couldn’t agree with you more about LBJ.

But Ladybird sure created some beautiful landscape with the wild flower program.

Could we put her on a penny or sumthin?

I don’t see separation as being a peaceful thing.

What would the blue states do - threaten to declare war on us if we didn't stay put? 600,000 Americans died the last time the feds tried to stop a secessionist movement. Americans don't have the stomach for such bloodshed and carnage today. Especially not on their own soil.

Besides, they don't have the manpower (or firepower) to stop the red states from going their own way, if that's what they're determined to do.

No, it would be a political (and economic) re-alignment. Nothing more.

If we can figure out how to cut Austin and Sheila’s district out, we’d be good to go.
