Climate at five minutes to midnight: IPCC head

AFP 54 minutes ago Nature

Humanity has pushed the world's climate system to the brink, leaving itself only scant time to act, the head of the UN's group of climate scientists said on Monday.

"We have five minutes before midnight," warned Rajendra Pachauri, whose organisation will this month release the first volume of a new assessment of global warming and its impacts.

"We may utilise the gifts of nature just as we choose, but in our books the debits are always equal to the credits," Pachauri told a conference marking the 20th anniversary of the environmental organisation Green Cross International, quoting fellow Indian Mahatma Gandhi.

"May I submit that humanity has completely ignored, disregarded and been totally indifferent to the debits?

"Today we have the knowledge to be able to map out the debits and to understand what we have done to the condition of this planet," Pachauri said.

The IPCC is made up of several hundred scientists worldwide.

It is due to release the first volume of its long-awaited Fifth Assessment Report on September 27.

Are you suggesting that the Nobel prize a few years back was due to a Fat Al attraction?

Twenty years ago this article would be a basis to make a pretty good Monty Python skit.

The warming loons are in total panic mode. Climate science has failed them miserably, turning on them like a change in the weather, and decades of working a scam are scattering in cold winds.

The only solution is to redistribute wealth on a massive global scale.

Sorry, Raj, only the most hard-core, die-hard faithful believe any of your garbage any more. WAY too many FACTS to the contrary right now. You know. Little things. Things like no warming for 15 years. The oceans are not rising. Polar bears are increasing in numbers. Glaciers haven’t melted. Big increase in Antarctic ice pack over the past few years. Northwest passage just froze and trapped a bunch of yachts. And yet all this occurred while CO2 concentrations are at the highest levels since the Pliocene era. Yeah, I know, ya’ll have recently been rewriting the models because they failed to predict the lack of recent warming because, you say, you forgot to put in those big watery things that cover 2/3 of the planet but now are adding them because you want to pretend like that’s where the “heat” MUST be going, but then again, that kind of hindcasting is always 100% accurate, isn’t it?

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls our climates.

3. The earth is a rock.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

The alchemists are THIS close to changing lead into gold! The assessments of that bunch are constantly being changed, but they lack scientific credibility.

The only people and "scientists" who believe in man-made global warming are those with a vested interest, like Al Gore and his minions. And, of course, Democrats and other Socialists who never pass up an opportunity to raise taxes.
