Reuters Jeff Mason and Mark Felsenthal report: John Boehner, Republican speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, said on Tuesday he would support President Barack Obama's call for military action in Syria and urged his colleagues in Congress to do the same. Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Obama at the White House, Boehner said the United States had to respond to the use of chemical weapons in Syria and show allies that America would stand up when necessary.

I want to know what he is being blackmailed with, because let's face it when the opposition party only has 10 to 20% support on an issue you do not join in and help unless you are being forced.

Then I want to know when republicans are going to get rid of him and replace him with someone that is not being blackmailed.

I’d compare most of our political “leaders” to Benedict Arnold, but that wouldn’t be fair.

At least Arnold helped take Fort Ticonderoga, and was instrumental in winning the Battle of Saratoga, before he sold Americans out.

I am cynical enough to believe that obama called the french and asked them to put this out in an attempt to manipulate the congressional members to vote in lock-step with obama. THe timing was too much in sinc with the meetings this morning.

The administration found this man’s weakness a long time ago... And photographed it extensively.

The whole damn government is compromised.

Our debt is rapidly closing in on $17 trillion. The fact that the administration and/or loons in congress are even considering spending even more is completely insane. How many times have we heard Admiral Mullen and others tell us the country’s debt is a threat to national security?

If its not an existential crisis threatening the nation, we simply cannot afford it. We are broke.

"One thing that no one is speaking about: This is all about Russia's monopoly on European natural gas and the desire of the Arab states to break into that market. It has NOTHING to do with chemical weapons, Iran's nuke, or the continued existence of Israel. It's all about the Benjamins."

Agreed..but one other thing, Syria has no central bank.

can’t wait to find out what they have on him

And because of this stuff, Obamacare won't be stopped. The gun grabbing won't be stopped, etc., etc. I looks like it may be time to water the tree, like it or not.

Intellectual honesty compels one to concede that it is possible that John Boehner was apprised of intelligence during the classified briefing which caused him as a patriot to swing his support toward Obama and this mindless action in Syria.

I think that is unlikely because the pattern in the past has been for the Obama administration to leak any intelligence, regardless of its harm to means and methods or to agents in the field and seal teams in helicopters, which would enhance the reputation of the administration. This of course has not yet occurred respecting Syria.

Nor to my knowledge did Boehner make any hint of any such intelligence in a general way without disclosing its contents.

I am simply at a loss otherwise to understand how any man with responsibility to his party and patriotism toward his country could behave as Boehner has.

What this mayhem has done is to expose that such chemical weapons are in the world to be used by any one with intent and means. The same gas was used in Japan a few years ago. The gas can be generated as needed from common ordinary materials/chemicals. There is much more to what is happening and not being told. I believe the scenario is all about gold, tons of it, in the hands/control of Assad that other persons want.

They are doing this after being duped by the terrorists who used the gas. They were caught with Sarin in JUNE in Turkey!! absolute fact. Why are we fighting to give the terrorist control of Syria? Utter Madness. I don’t believe this. I want you to brace for a preemptive strike on Israel this week and those ships are sitting ducks for anti-vessle weapons far faster than Exocet. God save us from our national stupidity.

Boehner is a cowardly disgrace .. dropping my gop registration was So the Right thing to do !

I finally officially dropped my Rep. registration Friday! I WAS a committee chairperson until McCain's bunch shut out the opposition.

How anyone can stay in the GOPe among the likes of McCain and Boehner is beyond me. It doesn't matter whether the coming elections (if they are allowed to happen) are won by GOP, Tea Party or others, they are all surrender monkeys to the Emperor!
