Pro-Assad computer hackers today broke into the Marine Corps recruiting website, redirecting visitors to a screed that called President Barack Obama "a traitor who wants to put your lives in danger to rescue al- Qaida insurgents."
A Marine Corps spokesman confirmed that the site, marines.com, was tampered with and redirected temporarily, but no information was put at risk.

Anyone else worried that we are going to war when we can’t even fend off basic cyber attacks?
Nice to know with certainty that the NSA monitored the attack and did nothing much about it.
Claiming Obama is ...”a traitor who wants to put your lives in danger to rescue al- Qaida insurgents.”
I’m more worried that Syrian hacker is correct.
And if we are concerned and preparing for a Al Qaida chemical attack in the continental USA, why not Syria to get rid of Assad?
I wonder if it was really Syrian hackers.
It sounds like they didn't actually attack the Marine's website. The article says: "redirected", which I suspect means they actually changed the DNS entry.
That's maintained elsewhere, by a registrar (not a government agency). If you can break into THEIR system (or simply masquerade as a legitimate user), you tell it: "marines.com is over here, instead".
I am listening to the criminal, Kerry right now. Looks like Obama and Reid stacked this hearing with his supporters. What a joke.
That too was my immediate thought.
What proof do the Marines or government or anyone else have that it was hackers backed by Assad?
I don't trust a word this government is telling us...
My wife said that's what she understood Fox news to say the other day.
Shoot, that could have been put up by Marines.
There’s more coming:

A whole lot more...
As long as everyone understands that the S.E.A. is really the SEE EYE A, then everyone understands what is really going on.
Good point. It could be a possible (and convenient) false flag operation.
