POLITICO: Senators craft Syria compromise
Politico ^ | 9-3-13 | JOHN BRESNAHAN and MANU RAJU

A new use-of-force resolution for Syria sets a 60-day deadline, with one 30-day extension possible, for President Barack Obama to launch military strikes against the regime of Syria President Bashar Assad — and it will also bar the involvement of U.S. ground forces in Syria.

Aides to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) were also involved in the discussions over the revised resolution.

“Why do these congresspeople hate us?”

The voters are dupes. This government is totally out of control. It’s on auto-pilot.

.

- Obama & Congress go for drinks at the White House

- Our sons and daughters die in another meaningless war

- If anything must be done because of real threat to America :

A - troops at our borders

B - drop a few big ones like Truman did - but this time walk away

.

You know, a few weeks ago Obama told us that he could have been Trayvon, or vice versa. We all balked at the rhetoric, but now, upon reflection, how right he’s turning out to be.

Like Trayvon, Obama feels the need to escalate a situation where he could just as easily peacefully go about his business. He’s made that turn to head back up to the “T” intersection because of one reason and one reason only…he feels he’s been “dissed”. Zimmerman, reason Trayvon, has disrespected him by following him, and had to have his ass whooped to show him who was the tough guy. Likewise, Obama drew his “red line” and Assad disrespected him, and crossed it. And now Assad needs some whoop ass, so that people wont think that Obama is weak (much like Trayvon likely had to impress Rachel).

We know how Trayvon ended. He attacked a guy with the gun and, when cornered, showed the willingness to use it. We DONT know how Obama’s story will end, but then again, neither did Trayvon when he set out.

Trayvon does have one thing over Obama, however; He at least had the courage to double back himself, stupid as it was, do dish out the whoop ass. Obama will send young men and women to do his fighting for him, to prove what a bad-ass he is.

Anyone ever hear of ‘mission creep’?

My dad was a Green Beret in the sixties. He learned all about mission creep in Vietnam.

What do we call it when a nation does a “first strike” on another nation....is it not an act of war?....It doesn’t matter what the motive is...Syria, Iran and Russia will have every right to retaliate in any way they see fit...not to mention even Lebanon.

It won’t take Obama 60 days to screw up the entire world....his first strike will be the match to set the whole thing off...and I don’t think it will happen all at once...these are middle easterners....they do it in their time and as we know are patient until everything they are going to throw at you is in place.

Our fear should be...the cells remaining in this country..and the Muslims who call themselves moderates....they may very well “spike” things here.

He won’t be the one who bombs Damascus....Israel will IMO. But Obama is the one now setting the stage....Israel knows better then to trust Obama..and so don’t all the other nations....and he’s giving them all plenty of time to position themselves.

I get very uncomfortable thinking about the cells in our nation as this “beast” rises to war.....

The MB must have the drop on Obama and they are ready to expose him as a fraud/foreigner/funder of MB, unless he does their bidding and bombs the crap out of Damascus.

I've seen multiple reports on that from different sources. I think Walid Shoebat was the first I saw to report on it, and he's a trusted source around these parts.

It makes complete sense that Obama is being blackmailed by the Muslim Brotherhood to bomb Damascus for them. In fact, it's the only thing that makes sense of what's going on here.

Many other countries don’t have the short attention span we do, for sure.

Once again, the Democrats propose to tear down the Washington Monument, and the Republicans respond with a plan to do it in three stages.

“It doesn’t matter a whit what they pass. Nobody can predict what’s going to happen after the first bomb goes off.”

and with this administration and their fawning press groupies, no one will be held responsible.

Well, except maybe Bush.

Great. The US military is going to fight people whom we don’t want to attack, led by a Commander in Chief who is NOT on their (or our) side, and provoke enemies we can’t afford.
How big of a catastrophe is this going to be?

They’re crafting, if you please. Crafting a compromise, mmm-mmmm.

Oh, to be a fly on that wall.

“Hey, did anybody hear the one about the four Americans in Benghazi?”

What do we call it when a nation does a “first strike” on another nation....is it not an act of war?

Yes. Additionally it is an "act of aggressive warfare" which is international speak for starting a war without just cause or international permission.

There are two criterion for engaging in legal warfare, comply with article 51, which allows for a RESPONSE to an act of war by another nation, or secure permission to use military force from The United Nations Security Council.

In Iraq, G.W. Bush had met both conditions. Obama has neither.

There are huge consequences for being an unlawful aggressor nation, you must win every war and battle forever in the future or face the gallows.

Let's try that and see if it makes more sense.
