Rumsfeld Slams Obama On Syria, Calls Him Weakest President In His Lifetime

By M. Alex Johnson

Deriding President Barack Obama as the weakest president "in my adult lifetime," former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld called on the White House on Tuesday to fish or cut bait in Syria.

Rumsfeld said there could be no middle ground in Syria: "You either ought to change the regime, or you ought to do nothing," he said during a question-and-answer session after a lecture at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids, Mich.

In his customarily colorful way, Rumsfeld, 81, picked away at Obama for declaring last week that any U.S. response to Syria's alleged use of chemical weapons against its own people wouldn't target President Bashar Assad.

"Why would you go in and fire a shot across the bow?" asked Rumsfeld, who served as Ford's defense secretary during the 1970s and again as head of President George W. Bush's Pentagon during the planning for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in the early 2000s.

"You either ought to change the regime, or you ought to do nothing,"

And if you change the regime, you have to be prepared to stick around to make sure that the most violent jihadists don't take over in the aftermath.

If Bush were in power, that would mean a nearly decade-long commitment of blood and treasure to keep the Talibs from returning to power in Kabul, or to keep Al Qaeda or the old Baathists from taking power in Baghdad.

If its Obama, you know that Al Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood taking power is the whole point of the exercise. Hence, no need for boots on the ground. He already has boots on the ground, and they are Al Qaeda and Brotherhood boots.

We have gone from fighting Al Qaeda to being their navy and air force.

I am more nervous about the final year of Ubama, when the media relegates him to the scrap heap of their attention in favor of the Republican and Democrat primary campaigns. I expect a whole lot of mischief out of the African communist piece of sh**, likely concluding on his last day with the pardon of Bradley “Chelsea” Manning.

Good point. No telling what he’ll do on his way out.

You have got it. If the Al Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood do take power in Syria, think of the stockpiles of chemical WMDs there will be available to them. Who knows what other things Syria has stockpiled. Then imagine these chemical agents released in the New York subway. Imagine New York or London having a gas attack from a container off loaded from a freighter.

The Muslim jihadists will not be our friends just because we helped them topple Bashar al-Assad.

Rumsfeld calls him the weakest. I consider Obama the laziest.
