In 1955 I was attending a high school in western KCK. We danced every morning before school in the girl’s gym. Only handful of Black students in a school of almost 400. The line down the center of the gym separated the Black students from the non-Black. One morning one Black couple crossed the line and the Black male student stabbed one of our star football players in the kidney area. Injury was not life ending but created a lot of problems within the school.

Although it was an isolated incident, conflict between students has been going on for a long time.

He went out and invited them all to Texas.”

This entire operation was facilitated more by White who was the Democrat Mayor of Houston at the time than by Perry. Sold to those of us who lived in Houston at the time as a “how can we possibly turn our back on these poor people”. Katrina exposed the underbelly of NOLA and it was not pretty.
