I know that Jesus commanded his followers to preach the gospel as evidenced by Matthew 24:14. I don’t recall where Jesus commanded his followers to erect crosses, although doing so arguably supports the gospel message. Corrections welcome.

I can’t recall anywhere in the Bible that he commanded them to build churches either.

Or schools.

Or hospitals either, come to think of it.
