Former Senior EPA Advisor Beale Expected to Plead Guilty in $900,000 Pay Fraud
The Washington Post ^ | 9-5-13 | Ann Marimow & Lenny Bernstein

Over the past 12 years, John C. Beale was often away from his job as a high-level staffer at the Environmental Protection Agency. He cultivated an air of mystery and explained his lengthy absences by telling his bosses that he was doing top-secret work, including for the CIA.

For years, apparently, no one checked.

How about checking those EPA goons who SWATed the gold miners in Alaska.

Investigate their schedules before and after the raid....to check on their “water quality”.

From the article:
“His wife, Nancy Kete, is a managing director at the Rockefeller Foundation and previously worked for the EPA, according to her biography on the foundation’s Web site”

I think we have found a little nest of corrupt libs. This is how they florish inside and outside the government. This clown was never indicted either, just a criminal information and he is facing 3 years. Seems to me such a filing of false claims should be many counts of a 5 year felony and the sentence should be in the multiple tens of years.

“This is a situation where one individual went to great lengths to deceive and defraud the U.S. government,” said EPA spokeswoman Alisha Johnson.

...and I’m thinking just like the agency that he worked for. Institutional deception and fraud. It’s what happens when you give too much power and too much authority to a bureaucratic agency that by the Constitution, should not exist.

Thanks Nixon.

“There was always an aura of mystery surrounding him,” said Frank O’Donnell, president of the environmental nonprofit Clean Air Watch, who was in various meetings with Beale. “He always projected confidence that he could fix any problem.”

I agree. If most Washington regulators spent most of their time out of the office and not doing anything, most of America's problems would either improve or disappear.

Amen! Close to or over a million dollar scam and a three year plea deal. Hang the guilty bastard after you take all he has. Then for good measure shut down the agency that made it all possible.

they probably will not be able to get the house as it is in joint names albeit probably today worth a million or so. They also let him retire so they are trying to take that off the table too but there is a recourse. Part of the deal should be he cnacels is retirement and takes a withdrawal for his contributions and close it. The money then becomes part of his restitution and he gets NO RETIREMENT. He is 64, his wife has a decent job so he will not be destitute but he surely should not be living grand on an ill gotten pension which more than likely is in the 6 figures. If he does not agree, remand him to time to be served in a maximum prison in the general population. The three years will seem like 3000 and along the way he will find love in all the wrong places.

Yes, and Gina McCarthy, the brand-new EPA Administrator was this guy's supervisor for an unspecified length of time. I wonder how long she signed-off on his time sheets? McCarthy may indeed have helped bring this to light, but it's equally possible that this article's intent is to absolve her for dropping the ball.

This guy didn't "steal" $900K without help from others, either in the form of collusion or incompetence. The people whose job it was to oversee this guy really deserve punishment, too.

EXACTLY, how did he get bonuses and how was his performance review conducted, by Tarot Cards??

This is an other in the long list of examples which show exactly why DC needs be eviscerated.

Saw a bit of the hearing on Fox.

Looks like a spook with an EPA cover.

Apparently all you have to do in DC is say you are CIA and you are CIA.

The head of the EPA was at his retirement party.

Bunch of geniuses we have running around in DC with their bank accounts full of money extorted by the IRS from us taxpaying chumps outside the Beltway.

Hope they enjoy the party while it lasts.
