Glenn Beck Wants to Know: Why Can’t We All Just Get Along?
New York Times ^ | September 6, 2013 | By Amy Chozick

Posted on 09/06/2013 1:19:46 PM PDT by Brad from Tennessee

You left Fox News and started The Blaze, a TV station, Web site and subscription service. How is that working out?

BECK: Check back with me in 10 years. I think we’re just now entering the fields that I was hoping we would enter.

You’ve said The Blaze could put traditional TV news out of business. That’s a bold prediction.

BECK: I learned that when Barbara Walters came and did an interview with me. They had about 50 people in our studio for two days — more people in my offices than we had employees. All for an eight-minute segment.

But do you really think that will happen?

BECK: The nightly news is doing a fine job of putting itself out of business. Who watches it? I mean really, besides my grandparents, who are both dead, who is watching the nightly news? I think we’ll be ready to put them out of business in the next three to five years. . .

Becks whole thing is the “Fusion of Entertainment and Enlightenment” and most times I watch/listen to him he gets both, even on his off days I at least get ONE of the TWO.

Which is a far better average from the MSM which gets 0/2 almost every day.

I think The Blaze TV is now on 28 cable companies nationwide, Dish Network, and SkyAngel. Not to mention online. He has almost got ATT U-Verse. www.gettheblaze.com

Time for a Day of Action

.

WHERE WE ARE

With your unwavering support, TheBlaze launched a grassroots campaign in March asking TV providers across America to add TheBlaze to their channel line-ups. Thank you for the countless number of hours you have dedicated to helping our cause and your willingness to help us succeed and grow!

Thanks to you and some forward thinking and open-minded TV providers, we’re proud to report that 28 companies (listed below) have added TheBlaze to their channel line-ups since March. We thank you for encouraging them to do so and we thank them for listening to you.

However, many TV providers have not listened or even acknowledged your requests. Your money continues to be used by media conglomerates to pay for cable channels you rarely, if ever, watch, like CNN, MSNBC, BBC World News, and Current TV. With one exception, conservative, libertarian and right of center news, information and lifestyle programs are absent from the channel lineups of most TV providers.

And on August 20th, another news and information choice will join the channel line ups of TV providers across America in 48M homes! That network is not TheBlaze, one of THE most requested new networks, but rather Al Jazeera America, an unproven network owned and funded by the government of Qatar with very little consumer support in the United States.

And that’s the reason we’re asking you to once again, and with even more passion, rally around TheBlaze and join us in a Day of Action.

We’re all for more choice, inclusiveness, diversity of voices and free speech, so we congratulate Al Jazeera America for getting a deal done with TV Providers to make their programs available across America. But TheBlaze should be part of the national conversation too so that your point of view and values are fairly represented. You’ve let TV providers know this in overwhelming numbers, yet they are adding a network for an audience that already has lots of news and information choices and had very few customer requests.

It’s hard to believe that TV Providers have ignored you – their loyal customers – who pay them hard earned money each and every month. Rather than add a channel that their customers spent ten of thousands of hours of their time asking for, they continue to spend your money on networks that don’t share your values.

And it’s not that they are not adding and paying for new channels or that they don’t have room for new ones (responses they sometimes offer you and us for not adding TheBlaze)….they are. Here are a few other example:

Fox Sports 1 launching August 17th in 85M homes

Fox Sports 2 launching August 17th in 50M+ homes

Pivot, launched August 1st in 40M homes

FXX launching September 2nd in 71M homes

Esquire Network launching in September in 50M+ homes

Revolt TV launching on TWC and Comcast in the fall to 20M+ homes

El Rey – launching year end on Comcast and other TV providers

Fusion – Launching by year-end with deals in place with Cablevision, Charter, Cox, AT&T UVERSE and Google TV.

Dog TV – Launched in June on DIRECTV

Again, we’re not saying that Al Jazeera America or any of these channels shouldn’t be added – more choice is a good thing for consumers. We’re just saying that YOU and our audience deserve a network that represents our values and lifestyle and we shouldn’t be ignored!

TAKE ACTION

While Al Jazeera America has been allowed to join the national conversation, TheBlaze has not, and that’s why we picked August 20th as a symbolic day for us to once again take action – to remind TV providers that its YOU who pay the bills and that YOU can vote with your pocketbook because you have a choice in TV providers. In a sea of networks, old and new, that don’t share your values – values that 94,000,000 Americas share — all you want is ONE that does!

We want you to take action. Join us as our #GetTheBlaze campaign continues culminating in a DAY OF ACTION on August 20th. Here’s what you can do to help:

** On August 20th, call your TV Provider and again politely and firmly insist that TheBlaze be added to your channel line up. Be persistent, ask to speak to a supervisor if you don’t get a real answer, demand that your voice be heard and your hard earned money invested in programming that matters to you!

**Between now and August 20th, encourage your family, friends, neighbors and communities to join in our campaign so that we can show TV Providers that we are a force to be reckoned with and acknowledged.

**On August 20th, get social. Post on your TV Provider’s Facebook Page and tweet at them using #GetTheBlaze.

**On August 20th, get together with your friends, neighbors and like-minded people and gather at your TV provider’s local customer service office. Be kind. Bring them coffee and doughnuts, but let them know in no uncertain term that you want TheBlaze.

** On August 20th, take photos. Take pictures of yourself with your cable or satellite bill, or with your “I want the Blaze because…” sign and post them on social media using #GetTheBlaze.

** On August 20th share any ideas you have about how else we can mobilize and get our message across to TV providers. Let us know about it at @GetTheBlaze on Twitter or drop us a note at affiliate@theblaze.com.

THANK YOU

As we said when we started this campaign, it’s going to take time and persistence to get these huge media companies to take notice of our independent network and its audience.

We’ve done so much together, but there’s still a long road ahead. We are privileged to share the journey with you! Thank You!!

“ Perseverance is a great element of success. If you only knock long enough and loud enough at the gate, you are sure to wake up somebody.” — Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

We thank our existing partners who care what you think and recognize the value TheBlaze brings to their customers and communities.

Beck sounds like Rodney King’s brother from another mother: “Can’t we all just get along...(sob)??”
