The newly announced Trail Life USA expects to become a premier Christian organization for boys and young men when it fully launches in the new year.
Its goal is to counter the moral free-fall of the nation, and raise a generation of faithful husbands, fathers, citizens and leaders, organizers told the national inaugural convention in Nashville, Tenn., Friday night.

Trail Life USAs name, drawn from more than 300 options, was carefully vetted and is intended not to be political or controversial, organizers said.

Our whole life is about the trail, both in the outdoors and in the journey of life as believers, he said. So Trail Life is a way of life that is centered on following Christ in the outdoors.

However, it will not admit youth who are open or avowed about their homosexuality, and it will not admit boys who are not biologically male or boys who wish to dress and act like girls.
Adult leaders of Trail Life USA will be Christians who sign a statement of faith and submit to background checks. Both boys and adults will be required to adhere to a code of conduct.

"Trail Life USA expects to become a premier Christian organization....Trail Life is a way of life that is centered on following Christ in the outdoors...Adult leaders of Trail Life USA will be Christians who sign a statement of faith and submit to background checks."
So how would a Jew be able to sign a "statement of faith" that they're a Christian and will commit to "following Christ in the outdoors"? To a Jew, Jesus is just a Jewish carpenter, not God.
If the article instead read "Adult leaders of Trail Life USA will be people of faith who sign a statement of belief in Judeo-Christian values", then a practicing Jew would be able to join.
Guess we’ll wait and see...quite a few BS groups meet in churches, maybe they are liberal churches, I don’t know, but if pastors should not be allowed to speak out from the pulpit against homosexuality because it’s deemed a hate crime, then it’s easy to see that groups that exclude them might be sued. Unless something turns around...
no, upset because good people have a kneejerk reaction and abandon that which is good for that which will fail miserably.
I see. Well, start your own organization, then.
It's certainly an excellent idea, but allowing only Christians to join will defeat their own purpose. Since I believe Christ is the messiah, I can join, but numerous others who believe in traditional values and oppose the BSA's gay agenda will not be able to do.
OTOH, there are numerous instances of groups open to everyone who start complaining and then sue because they think one group or thought is too prevalent in the organization. Which has led to where the BSA is today.
This is generally a step in the right direction. They need to be more explicit in terms of affiliation/sponsorship by a church or a formally recognized religion (even one they make up from scratch.) This is the coming collision between the first amendment protection of religious freedom and the usual suspects who want to ram same sex marriage and other political correctness down our throats. This is the right approach, and as I have posted before, the key is to get religious organizations to offer a wider variety of services (more schools, day care, scouting like groups, etc.) so that they can be conducted in a principled manner and be beyond the reach of gay/lesbian/transgender/gender confused activists who want to wreck everything utilizing the courts.
I think religious freedom will win out here; there are too many groups impacted by the intrusion of government into their affairs. If libs had their way, they would have already stopped the slaughter of animals according to kosher/halal guidelines, for instance.
Have you visited their website?
I’m in Nashville for the conference. Provided it all works as planned, this organization is everything BSA should be. I came to explore our options and spent the entire day getting more and more excited. It’s not a done deal for our troop yet, but I’m ready to raise the standard. Motto: Walk Worthy.
I am thrilled to the bones to read your words. I am so happy that our youngsters will have a nationwide team that they can be a part of with Christ as their leader. I was getting quite depressed thing that the perverts had won the game.
Thank you for your efforts to keep America great.
By calling me an athiest you demean the good Christians who are the majority and backbone of the BSA. You are thus revealed as a Christian bigot. You demean those Christians who don’t follow your narrow path and zealotry
"You can enter God's Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. Matthew 7:13
Seems like Matthew was demeaning you 'broad road' Christians as well.
As far as Christian backbone of the BSA, just wait until the end of the year and see how many churches are not renewing with the BSA.
