Detectives are trying to track down the men who robbed and murdered a Tacoma man last Saturday in a downtown parking garage.
Witnesses told police they saw 54-year-old Lawrence Howse pull his black BMW into the gated parking garage at the Sky Terrace Condominiums just before 10 p.m. on Saturday night. The witnesses say two men followed the car into the garage.
In what police believe was a random attack, Howse was robbed and shot dead inside the garage.
Howse's friends say they're devastated by the murder.
"To happen to somebody that you know and to happen to someone so full of life is just unimaginable," said David Johnson.
Detectives are now looking for two men thought to be the shooters.
Both robbers are described as black men in their late teens or early 20s. One man had a light complexion and was wearing a white shirt and dark pants.
The second man was wearing a dark shirt and dark pants. His hair may have been worn in an afro or short braids, according to police.
Loretta Cool with the Tacoma Police Department is hoping someone in the area saw the robbers fleeing the scene.
"People were probably out walking they could have seen these two guys run right be them," she said.
Johnson said Howse worked in the boating industry and had two children.
"Imagine the people in their lives that have made such an impression, and then putting them all together in one, and then have that person taken away from them," he said.
Random means Black on White violence...but with a PC twist.
That's different... they named the race... interesting change.
Random?...so the coppers believe the perps weren’t intentionally robbing and killing this guy? Maybe the community needs more “programs” like midnight basketball and, then, things like this won’t happen.

Everything is just so damn random...
Bump and getting much worse by the day.
There is something deeply flawed in the reasoning that black on white violence isn’t racial if robbery, rape, rape or some other crime is carried out. A feral black could hit or shoot a random white on the street, and it would only be considered a hate crime if a robbery didn’t follow. The people who are promoting this stupidity, the media and police officials, deserve to experience racial violence first hand.
Law enforcement seems to go out of its way in IMMEDIATELY describing any black on white crime as “random”.
We are all walking targets at this point. In the last few years, we’ve seen how blacks literally get away with murder. So don’t leave the house without praying Psalm 91 over everyone!
