We used to know that sailors often regretted the stupid tattoos they got while drunk.When I enlisted, I was advised by an old Chief that if I insisted on getting a tattoo, get one that read "Mother." I didn't get one. I knew if I did I'd eventually regret it.

Every time I “thought” I “wanted” one I chose to wait one year. If I still “wanted” one with the basic (similar) design after one year I would get it.
Because of this I never got one.
