Ah yes, the foreign kid (or black baby for white parents)fashion accessory - what to do when they go out of fashion.

So I’m flying back from a South African hunting trip and the plane was chock full of white do gooders just radiating their own goodness, their brains stewing in endorphins of wonderfulness that they adopted a poor African child. So how many of these kids are going to be abandoned once the brain rush of “goodness” wears off? Another true story, a childless couple “wanted” children, go thru the steps, foster two young kids, and within one week that much was too much and back they go.

When you adopt a kid, he or she is your FOREVER kid, just as if they were born to you. You don’t get to just “re-home” them if it doesn’t work out like you hoped. It’s a pretty good chance that whoever takes them is going to abuse them, especially if you found them on craigslist. If you really can’t handle them, seek out a church that can help with fostering or adoption.

fostering is a good try on for perents and this is not unusual.

BTW I have four black USA kids and know many good religious people who have adopted from overseas and in the states and have put their lives on the line to serve the children.

We adopted a 3 1/2 year old. She’s 31 now and has a daughter, our only grandchild. I have been where some of those adoptive parents are. It was very very hard at times but now I recognize what a blessing she is and I love her very much.

Yep, my wife had a friend like this. Gay man, but he wanted kids, so he went through the process to become a foster parent with adoption being the eventual goal.

This is a man who has enough trouble taking care of himself, never mind a baby. I took one look and said, "This is a recipe for disaster." An attention-getting fashion accessory is what he was really looking for.

Sadly, I was right. His "experiment" in foster parenting lasted less than a week. Fortunately, the agency had enough sense to find a new home for the child (cute little black girl, maybe 3 or 4 years old?) and not place anyone else with him.

While some foster\adoptive parents are near-saints, others aren't, and should just stick with getting a dog.

Blood ties, it turns out are important, when it comes to the raising of children. Who knew?

Blood is not the reason. Being real parents is the cause.

It is infuriating that people will adopt a foreign child without the fortitude to handle the problems that may come with them.

The really modern liberal elites get the whole set.

It speaks to the essential shallowness of the majority of americans (those who voted of 0 at the very least).

Then you might not want to hear about the vast cesspool of horrors that go on in the US government managed foster care system because, unlike the 'illegal' system the government has the ability to cover up its messes.

re: It is infuriating that people will adopt a foreign child without the fortitude to handle the problems that may come with them.)))

Yeah, it's like the most heartbreaking kind of status-seeking. Sometimes it works out really well, but often it does not. Parents who already have other children are a good bet for this, or have excellent support from churches and schools.

If you are a health professional, you see some awful things that go bad with adopting a child, even a toddler. Sometimes they have been so abused that they are a dangerous sociopath.

Vanity is also to be wary of--the Uber Mother with a Heart of Gold, who can with her Supernatural Love make any problem go away.
