I disagree. I've thought from day one that Zimmerman was a bit of an idiot. An idiot who was certainly not guilty of murder, but an idiot nonetheless. This may be confirmation of the "idiot" part (we'll see as the facts come out), but does nothing to change the "certainly not guilty of murder" part.
I agree 100% and also have this all along.
Probably in general a decent guy who tries to do the right thing. But none too bright.
I think we sometimes forget that half the population has below average intelligence.
Indeed. Just because Zimmerman isn't the brightest or most balanced individual, that doesn't make his late, unlamented assailant any more appealing or worthy of sympathy.
Zimmerman is guilty of poor judgment, not murder.
He’s not an idiot. He’s a average American. He’s not a professional spokes person, nor media savvy. He’s a guy that Axelrod and Obama picked to take the heat and regain black voters.
As Americans we should support him just because a President (note well that I didn’t mention any political party) picked his case and made it a national story for a political reason.
It’s cruel and unfair. That he’d break under the enormous pressure isn’t unusual. Most men break after 200 days in combat, even the toughest. We know nothing about Zimmerman and in his ordinariness he’s every American - a victim of an amoral political system that is insatiable and voracious.
I’ll support him, despite himself. It’s not just the American thing to do, but the Christian.
