‘Keystone oil will travel through America ... Billionaire steps up anti-Keystone campaign

Full title: ‘Keystone oil will travel through America not to America’: Billionaire steps up anti-Keystone campaign with US$1M ad blitz

The author of the piece is with Bloomberg so it can not be posted on FR. However, the title says it all. Financial guru and billionaire Tom Steyer has re-invented himself as an anti-Keystone campaigner. He is sponsoring ads in a four-part, US$1 million advertising campaign to convince viewers the Keystone XL pipeline will hurt the economy and communities and should be blocked. Coincidentally (or not so) he is one of Obama's biggest campaign supporters and fund raiser. His activities aren't limited to anti-oil ads: He supports candidates that believe strongly in fossil fuel emissions causing global warming. He supported Democrat Ed Markey in his primary campaign for the Massachusetts Senate seat and is running US$500,000 in advertisements against Republican Ken Cuccinelli in the Virginia’s governor race.

I'm kind of surprised how little talk there is about the Embridge pipelines doubling capacity.

If Mr. Steyer is willing to spend his fortune on this, let him. I myself am willing to carry a sign, if he’s paying. Shouldn’t we all help him spend his hard earned fortune?

I am too. I hesitate to mention it sometimes, thinking its better it remains below the radar.

They’ll eventually build Keystone piece by piece and call it something else. I hope.

The liberal mind is of the ‘ab’ kind. It only holds one idea at a time. It’s Keystone, Keystone, Keystone!

Small groups are protesting here in Michigan but they’ve been pretty ineffective.

“what an idiot....I don’t care how much money he has. His logic is not only flawed it is dangerous for us all”

What does he care? He can afford to be a liberal idiot. The rest of us can just eat cake to these people.

Until the masses wake up and realize what is being done to them by the moneyed, political elite in this country, it will continue.

Guessing Mr. Steyer has been told by Buffett to invest in his railroads.

I’m not happy with Enbridge - their safety record is way less than stellar with the two nasty spills they had the upper Midwest.

Do you realize that the state of Michigan hadn’t had the required inspector on the payroll for nearly a decade when the spill happened near Kalamazoo.

Today Embridge is refurbishing and installing a much safer pipeline in the face of envirotards who want nothing more than another spill to screech about like morons.

The enviorotards themselves lead to unsafe conditions because they drive costs so high that the risk of an unsafe pipeline is the more cost effective path.

Are you sure that there are NO pipelines to Kalifornia?

So many people, so many cars, so many computers needing cheap fuel for electricity - - - OH, the humanity!
_______

BTW, Bloomberg’s idea of blocking the XL Pipeline will increase the number of spills and leaks from Buffet’s train loads of Oil from Pristine North Dakota to refineries in Houston.

These leaks and spills will provide needed “liquid sunshine,” (= crude oil), nutrients to the soil, and provide an excellent, and nearly continuous, source of food for many species of starving bacteria.

BTW, BTW, to insure that living plants, such as Iowa corn for Ethanol, have enough Carbon, Bloomberg’s support of blocking the XL Pipeline will insure that the Canadian crude oil is refined in China where CO2 emission standards do not exist.

Yes indeedy! Bloomberg has even topped his famous soda ban in NYC !

Bloomberg has fed the soil, AND the bacteria, as well as provided an increase in Worldwide CO2.

The biggest winners are the farmers in the US “Bread Basket” States who get the drippings from Buffet’s Oil Trains, AND the droppings of precious CO2 from China.

The losers are those few misguided few who still ignorantly complain about their selfish “pain at the pump.”

Nobody is more effective at killing safety and driving up costs than the eccomarxists. It doesn't need to be that way but the eccomarxists are seldom interested in safety or the environment.

When oil was discovered under my hometown some pro drilling folks didn't waste any time starting a company that does environmental reclamation. Many of the company owners have working oil or gas wells on their own land so their interest is in keeping it flowing while protecting the environment.

As they say, follow the money. This gentleman and others like Buffett, Soros, etc. have paid a lot of money to politicians to keep this pipeline from being built. They all have a skin in the game. It has NEVER had anything to do with protecting water in NE.

That was not a complete map of all North American pipelines. Just some select ones competing in the same KeystoneXL market. However, there are no oil pipelines from the Canadian oil sand area to California. What California doesn't produce themselves mostly comes in by ship.

Oil pipelines shown in Green (diagrammatic, not exact routes)
