Putin insists US drop threat of force against Syria under weapons deal
FT ^ | 9-10-13

The global tussle over Syria’s civil war moved to the UN on Tuesday, where disagreements have already surfaced between US and its allies and Russia over Moscow’s plan to place Syrian chemical weapons under international control.

The Russian proposal emerged on Monday in a haphazard manner but has been quickly seized upon by the Obama administration and accepted by the Syrian government.

Supported by the US and the UK, France tabled a new UN Security Council resolution on Tuesday that would threaten military action if Syria did not hand over its stocks of chemical weapons.

However, only hours later Russian President Vladimir Putin insisted the US had to drop its threat of force against Syria as a condition for Damascus placing its chemical weapons stocks under international supervision.

Yeah they're all going to run with that fantasy but I don't think it will work too well.

The Republicans are afraid of doing anything out of fear that they will humiliate Obama. Luckily, Putin doesn’t share that fear.

Now the U.S. is struggling to maintain authority vs. Putin.

No time for cuteness.

Assad presents map of all Chem Weapons locations now.

We’re not waiting for Assad to play games.

Everything! Now! Or else.

Draft a new resolution for Congress.
New motive.
New scope.
New consequences.
No “Tiny Attack”

Next Putin will making us turn over our Nukes as part of the deal-and Obama will comply.

How can he make such a threat, he has no approval to do so from Congress and isn't going to get it!

Obama stuck his foot in it and there is no way out but to accept whatever deal is offered.

That would be fine with Assad. He wishes that he never inherited these chemical weapons from his dad and Saddam. They are an albatross now. This is a great opportunity for him to get rid of them while international inspectors protect his government.

This is a win-win for both Putin and Assad.

Obama will have no clue as to how to respond.

That should make his speech tonight really something.

A lot of this happens because Obama just can't keep quite about things. They telegraph everything, even if some of it is by accident.

What's really ironic is that they go to such lengths to ferret out or contain leaks, when they are the leakers of the worst magnitude.

WHy are you burdening us with “How you think it should be”?

I’m talking about the only effective way to deal with Putin’s demands, on the global stage.

Tell Putin, “screw you”, “we demand compliance now, or else.”

Invite Congress along for the ride, but give them a new resolution to fit the new circumstances.

Kerry gave Putin the bait ... Putin baited the hook .... Obama bit. Now Obama is finding out that Putin is not operating under a “catch and release” scenario. Obama is going to be fried for Putin’s dinner .... hush puppies on the side.

I want Vlad to tell Obama to stop supporting the rebels as a condition. That would be just perfect!

Carrot and now the stick!

Wow, Putin is playing this mofo. It is SAD.....and funny to watch.

I need to go watch some Reagan videos before I go really bi-polar.

Over the last few days we have watched this situation rapidly and needlessly devolve from a faked false flag ( with possible wag the dog undertones) event to a farce to a cluster f**k to it's current status as a diplomatic and foreign policy train wreck of epic proportions.

While I understand that train wrecks can be fascinating and entertaining things to watch, it is my unpleasant duty to remind you that we are riding on this train.

Am I misinterpreting something here? How is this different from extortion?

Would not one who accepted this condition be successfully...

..."Terrorized"?
