There has been damage done. Devin Barnes had his name and personal information posted online including the receipt with “n——r” on it and the charge that HE wrote it.
This has became international news. Devin Barnes says he’s receiving threats — his name and reputation are being drug through the mud. Good luck recovering from that even if it’s proved that he didn’t write the racial slur.
It’s not a small matter. Lives and careers have been ruined over these kinds of things.

My point was that in a sane world police shouldnt be involved in a matter where they investigate someone for allegedly writing a racial slur on a receipt.
