(August) polls showed 3/5's of Americans opposed to military action..... and growing by the minute. This led Obama's secretary of state to assure everyone that whatever the US did would be “unbelievably small,” even as he compared Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad to Hitler. Whip counts suggested the House would vote the measure down .....and indications the president could not even get 50 votes in the Senate, controlled by Obama's own party.
And so a roundelay that began with Obama announcing his decision to launch a military strike at a time of his choosing suddenly turned into the president and his desperate acolytes thinking they could take a victory lap! “Thanks to Pres. Obama’s strength,” tweeted House Democratic honcho Nancy Pelosi, “we have a Russian proposal.”
Ah, yes, winning......which is to say, being humiliated, acting weak, behaving in a vacillatory fashion, making a mockery of your office, destroying your country’s credibility, making your own words look desperately foolish, and ceding foreign policy to a gangster regime in Moscow. That’s what Democrats call “winning” ........

In 1999 my wife’s cousin opened of all things a strip club in Moscow. He lived in the US for 25 years.
At age 43 he said it was easier to deal with the Russians (he is Hungarian and HATES the Russians), than it was to deal with the folks here at home. There were less payoffs, you knew where you stood, less taxes, and if you just greased the right palms (of which were made perfectly clear to him), you could do well.
He tried to expand into Pizza joints, Chicago style, but was told :”no way”. He appreciated that, the honesty and upfront attitude.
Here in the US, he would get the run-a-round, and have to pay for “community improvements”, “community water improvements”, and “land discretion”. At least he said, in Russia, he knew he was just buying off politicians.
Last year, my wife told me he made about 3 million bucks, and paid 30,000k in taxes. Plus about 50k in bribes.
At least in Russia, you know where you stand.
Why bother wasting the weapon on women and children who threaten no one? Why not use them on the rebels? Does anyone, Left or Right, even attempt to answer the question?

Both Larry’s Dinner and Family Reunion are worth watching just for the back stories you get. They are doing a looking back series now, and it has many of the greats who have passed on to Glory featured.
