My soldier graduated BCT this morning at Fort Leonard Wood. There’s no happier dad in the world today than me.

Best to all the Canteeners and thanks to all our troops around the world for keeping us strong and free!

I remember graduation day from Ft. Leonard Wood well, 4/18/76.
It snowed!
Congrats to you and your son, Colonel.

I saw Bret Michaels perform stuff from his newest album, and I stopped by for some Australian teen heartthrob just long enough to have the free breakfast before going for a walk. Good thing about NYC, with all the tourists, I didn't look out of place for that last one (with all the younger fans). Just another "Dad" in the crowd.

There are videos on youtube.

Thanks, everyone. Already had to see him off for AIT and 18 more weeks away, but that is the lot of an Army dad.

Nine weeks away in exchange for 36 hours together. Such is the soldier’s life.

Bet that was some quality 36 hours!

Is he doing well? Standing a bit taller? You as well? ;-}

He is doing quite well. Basic took about 25 pounds off him, and he was kind enough to give his old Dad a few Army PT standards to help me do the same in the coming weeks. We had a weight loss contest while he was gone and he won 25-18.

I just didn’t have a Drill Sergeant to help me.

His level of confidence is very good, and he has changed to the point where I’m fully confident he can handle his MOS without difficulty. It’s just hard having him gone already.

His graduation ceremony was such an inspiring thing. Can’t wait for his Christmas leave.

I’m ok, dear lady. Sad, but that’s to be expected.

I need me some basic training! LOL

I can't even imagine going through all they do at basics.

Good on you supporting him with the weight loss. Bet it feels VERY good.

Yeah, it is early to have him gone & I know that must leave a hole in the soul.

He is, I can well imagine, going to be enriched so much by his achievements that his life should be very successful. That is my prayer & hope.
