It’s not magical at all, it’s just practical and common sense, and also the tradition of centuries, that the rights of existent men (and women) are not attributed to the non-existent men. Fetuses are not men.

Fetuses are not men.

No, they're babies, and, yes, they are "existent." Modern science has proven that.

But thank you for proving conclusively that your definition of humanity is utterly contingent.

Actually, the difference between being in utero and having been born into this world is exactly one of location.

The difference is not just one of location. A fetus which is not yet viable relies upon the mother's body to infuse oxygen and nutrients into its blood, while a birthed baby does not. The strongest pro-choice argument is that a woman should not be forced to support an unwanted parasite; a policy consistent with that argument would specify that women who do not wish to be pregnant would have the right to have premature labor induced, provided that a pro-life group was allowed to make whatever efforts they could to support the premature infant to until it was medically stabilized and could be adopted.

The U.S. Constitution requires equal protection for every person, in every jurisdiction.
The 14th Amendment, which you are thinking of, makes it clear that only those born are citizens.

But in any case, the incrementalists aren't even doing what you suggest. They are in fact codifying "legal" permission to kill 100% of the children, as long as it is done on time, and by their rules.
I guess legislation banning late term abortion is evil for you, too.

Such "laws" are lawless, and an obvious violation of the supreme law of our land, not to speak of the violation of God's command, "You shall not murder."
Anti-abortion activists who make the perfect the enemy of the good are complicit in murder.

No woman should be FORCED to bear a child conceived by a rapist. That is insane.

Aiken and Mourdock lost. You should be glad: the sheeple agree with you.

So, does murder make rape not as bad?

Only if its the rapist getting “murdered”

That would count as a win, would it not?

My point is simply, you don't get elected to the US Senate by becoming famous for arguing that abortion is murder even if the child is the result of a rape. Even though your position is absolutely correct. Todd Aiken and Richard Mourdock being examples from the 2012 cycle.

I conclude that federal elections should be about economic issues. About take-home pay, after taxes and health care. We need to win!

Fact remains.

The aborted murdered kid didn't do anything wrong.

You venture into the tar pit, you are subject to the physics of tar. Tar pit physics don't win elections in the USA of 2013. But physics is physics.

The 14th Amendment, which you are thinking of, makes it clear that only those born are citizens.

Perhaps you should read the Amendment again. Its particular clauses make a clear distinction between the privileges and immunities of citizens and the rights to life, liberty, and property of all PERSONS.

All citizens are persons, but not all persons are citizens.

In any case, the equal protection of the right to life of all PERSONS is required in every state jurisdiction.

I guess legislation banning late term abortion is evil for you, too.

If the legislation does not provide the equal protection for every person that the Constitution requires, it is immoral and unconstitutional, and therefore illegal. It's simple.

Anti-abortion activists who make the perfect the enemy of the good are complicit in murder.

Well, I suppose. But immoral, unconstitutional, lawless laws which destroy the basis for our claim to liberty in this free republic are not "good." So there ya go.

Then you agree your take the matter, of who is for and against taking the life of a child, remains based on your personal experiences from those within ‘your’ member church affiliations....

If what you got from my post is that I've based my fifty years of personal experience exclusively (or even primarily) on only the people I've encountered within my "member church," then you simply did not read my post. We do not agree.

I was using your references just as you presented them...

And yes, we do not agree that taking the life of a child is ok pending circumstances of rape....on that I don’t agree. I give God great credit for having overcome and healed woman who have had that experience.. and most of all fully loving the children they bore.

To use rape as a reason to take the childs life is way underestimating the love and power of God and limiting His greatness to mans ideals..not His.
