Assad had no reason to do this, not with negotiations on the table.
Again...questioning the motives of those involved...the ‘rebels’ have more a reason to create martyrs for their Islamic cause than Assad does to save his status/country by bringing the US hellfire down on his head.

I think Ø has more of a motive for gas to be used than any of {Assad, AQ rebels, Good rebels}. My money is on Ø arranging for it to be used. To Ø, it's a face-saving Putin-stabbing way out.
