We had that problem in our old house, but we moved in 2002 to a much more conservative town. Thank goodness.

In our case we were moving anyway but it was a really nice area, with good neighbors who knew the right balance between minding their own business and keeping a good eye on things.

The greenie reality detachment was too bizarre for words. Basically wanted the townsfolk to pony up for green medians and other types of public landscaping projects to make him feel good about himself, but put zero time in on his own yard. The neighborhood concept meant nothing, as if "caring" = political activism completely divorced from day-to-day reality, the responsibilities of private property ownership and normal respectful attitudes toward the real people next door and along the street.

Want more greenery in the town? How about start with your own ****ing lawn. LOL but egads...
