Elkins was 17 at the time of the killing and thus too young to face the death penalty under Georgia law. Yet somehow this innocent little boy was eligible.

no amount of suffering is good enough for someone who ends the life of a child. but, those of us who would like him to feel the pain, I think, will be disappointed.
if you ever watch the first first 48 on amc, or lockup (sorry, its on msnbc)you’ll notice a couple of things.
the homeboys don’t seem to have enough gray matter to even understand the predicament they are in
they seem to enjoy life behind bars

Baby still dead. So what?
It's not about bringing that baby back to life - it's about proteccting other babies from suffering the same fate.
Now I grant you, there is a philosophical difference of opinion on this matter. Some people feel that if criminals and potential criminals see that someone like this... thing... is convicted, and then whipped into a bloody mess in the public square with barbed wire, and then hanged by his own entrails while he's set on fire, that those criminals and potential criminals will think twice before commiting a heinous crime, and in that way, lives will be saved.
Some people disagree.
I confess to be of the former persuasion. YMMV.

It’s a damn shame his POS lawyer is not going to keep him company-the same lawyer who ran out of excuses for dead babies murder so he implied it was the parents who murdered him.

A Georgia teen convicted of fatally shooting a baby in a stroller was sentenced Thursday to spend the rest of his life in prison with no chance of parole Only a barbaric society would agree to such a sentence.
Any civilized people, realizing their civilization was on the balance of the justice scales, would have sentenced him to be executed.

the rest of his life in prison with no chance of parole...Any civilized people...would have sentenced him to be executed. Yeah, it might wind up being the same thing, without all the decades of appeals.

Yeah, it might wind up being the same thing(execution), without all the decades of appeals. You may be right, but we have lost a golden opportunity to exhibit our civilized behavior. His execution should be scheduled for sometime September 2013.
To fob off his execution to some other lowlifes only reinforces our barbarity of behavior.

Again, the baby wasn’t white. Had a black father.

Teenagers can make adult decisions. In this case of murder, he should have faced the death penalty.

Life without parole in Georgia means just that. The scum will die in prison. Georgia is no liberal state. for murder the sentence means exactly what it is.
