Cruz hits back at Putin's attack on American exceptionalism

Sen, Ted Cruz, R-Texas appeared on the Sean Hannity Show on Thursday, September 12 , 2013 and delivered a sharp response to Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s New York Times attack on American exceptionalism, according to Human Events.

“’Autocrats have reason to fear when Americans focus on our principles, and focus on exceptionalism, because it’s been American exceptionalism that stood up to the Nazis, stopped the murder from the Nazis,’ said Cruz. ‘And it was American exceptionalism that stood up to the Soviet Union and freed hundreds of millions from behind the Iron Curtin. So Putin is right to be concerned about American exceptionalism.’”

Cruz’s response was certainly more forthright than that of the current president of the United States, which has been all but nonexistent. Cruz went on to express doubt that an arrangement with Russia to deprive Bashir Assad of his chemical weapons would actually happen. He echoed the sentiment of other analysts by suggesting that President Obama was projection weakness in the Middle East, to the detriment of the United States and to the advantage of Russia and its allies such as Syria and Iran.

I took Putin’s words as a shot at zero. While there are still exceptional Americans, there were not enough voting against the obamanation that is tearing us apart. Hopefully Cruz is not seen as defending the morons running America right now.

People today don't remember (or were never taught) why the phrase "American Exceptionalism" came to be.

You're absolutely right. Too many take "American Exceptionalism" to mean a simplistic "we're better than you are," the Commie thug Putin included. Unfortunately the bogus POTUS thinks the same thing.

That’s how I saw it as well. Obama never believed in “exceptionalism.” But he calculatingly used the phrase in his speech to garner support for his idiotic Syrian adventure. Putin grabbed hold, and used it as a knife to twist in the Kenyan’s sweaty gut. Whether or not Putin understood its actual meaning was irrelevant to what he wanted to do. And succeeded in doing.

Funny how it elicited such a wild tizzy in the corridors of Washington. My guess is that it’s because Putin managed to rub raw some disquieting realities about America’s current descent into decline and moral decay.

“The United States was “exceptional” because it was created by a social compact amongst the people to live within the guidelines of a constitution and its derived laws, established by the people. Power was transferred via non-violent means, and the people adhered to that social contract.”

An outstanding summary of American exceptionalism, PJT. The only thing I might add is the blessing of the Lord on this land and its people.
