A federal study recommends spending $453 million to restore part of the concrete-line Los Angeles River to nature but critics say it doesn't go far enough.

It’s just money....what’s to worry?
Let it go out to Marina del Rey like it used too
Leave it alone for long enough and it will return to nature for free.
They are Regressives
“Leave it alone for long enough and it will return to nature for free.”
Don’t be silly. If they that, they wouldn’t be able to give millions to supporters and cronies who would then filter some back to them. That would waste 450 million that would just languish in taxpayer’s accounts.
Why stop there?
Why not tear down the entire city of Los Angeles and let it return to nature?
Once that is done, do it to San Francisco and Oakland and Sacramento.
Too logical
One of the most ridiculous ideas in years to waste out tax money If they.just tossed our money into the Bermuda Triangle it would be better Because at least that way our money wouldn’t wind up ripped off by the crooned politicians and their crony kickback artist contractor crook backers.
They can turn it back to pristine condition. And then put a high speed rail line through it.
It's already been doing that for years. There are sections that run through Glendale/Burbank that have serious ecosystems at the bottom. Some of the trees in the riverbed are thirty feet or more in height. You can't even see the concrete bottom for most of that stretch.
I believe that some of that was intentionally set in motion years ago, but nature has taken over in an aggressive way with that part of the river.
I see a couple of problems. 1) The Los Angeles river riverbed will need to be greatly enlarged to account for the volumes and slower flow neccesary for a natural channel. Bridges will have to be lengthened and most likely rebuilt. 2) The army corp is involved. This is a huge mistake. LA has a first class flood control district and should do this project without the corp of engineers. Corp of Engineers = disaster.
I recognized Grease. Who are the others?
California can fix anything with money. It’s a good thing they have an endless source of it. /sarc
There are many more.
