Bush spent half of the bailout money.
He required the money to be paid back.
He required the money to be paid back to taxpayers with interest.
The money has been paid back with interest.
That is fiscally conservative. The Democrats took control of Congress in January 2007 and deregulated Fannie Mae.
Obama added the “emergency” funding as a permanent part of the budget. His spending has no fiscally conservative components to it. No money ever has to be paid back.
It is ridiculous the conservatives and liberals agree to blame Bush.
Its absurd.
The bailout was NOT conservative. Bush got rolled by his Secretary of the Treasury and others in the Goldman/NY financial mafia.
And the auto bailout—which Bush IIRC attributed to wanted to please his successor—was still less conservative than that.
But I stand by my original statement, if Bush did anything under pressure from Obama that was Bush’s fault.
Yep.
Government bailouts are never conservative. The market rules, let them go under. We’d be better off today. I’ll never forgive Bush for going against his ‘free market’ instincts.
Then there’s the liberty he brought to the ME. Sure, Obama’s worse, but we haven’t had a great POTUS since Reagan. Reagan didn’t get rid of a single department and like a cancer they’ve spread. We now have more than ever.
It’s time for a change.
