Its back-to-school time across America and you know what that means: a fresh supply of stories about transgender students demanding special treatmentparticularly when it comes to bathrooms and locker rooms.
The latest spat involves an expelled transgender student at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown who has filed a federal lawsuit claiming that the school violated her civil rights by preventing her from using mens locker rooms and restrooms, reports the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
The student, Seamus Johnston, was born female but identifies as a male. Johnston has undergone several months of hormone treatment recently.
The lawsuit was filed Monday. The suit claims that the school violated federal anti-discrimination laws. Johnston is representing herself.
A Pitt spokesman told the Tribune-Review that the school plans to defend the legal challenge vigorously.
The events leading up to the lawsuit are nothing if not interesting.
Johnston was expelled from Pitt-Johnstown for repeatedly using the mens locker room despite the schools order that she not do so, explains the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Johnston, 22, and her partner, Katherine Anne McCloskey, 56, filmed an attempted (and failed) series of citizens arrests at the Pitt-Johnstown campus. McCloskey did the arresting. Johnston filmed the events. (The antics can be seen at the end of a collection of clips from WPXI on YouTube.)
We believe that you are a female and that your campus ID indicates you are a female, an unidentified staffer firmly explains after he was accosted by the couple. Your application form indicates you are a female. You went into a mens locker room. You are not permitted to do that.
Later, the FBI focused on Johnston and McCloskey during an investigation of some bomb threats made at the main Pitt in Pittsburgh. The FBI questioned the couple in 2012. There was also a federal grand jury that threatened at times to dissolve into a circus.
In May, Johnston pleaded guilty to charges in county criminal court of trespassing and disorderly conduct related to the mens locker room fracas. The sentence was 90-days probation.
The Post-Gazette notes that Johnston declared in a prior complaint with the Pittsburgh Commission on Human Relations that the Social Security Administration found her disabled for a variety of emotional liabilities that included gender identity disorder.
Which does NOT make her a him. It just makes her someone desperately in need of help.
This “woman” looks like someone that was born a man. I sometimes really hate the world I live in.
These are the people obamar stands up for. He’s a freak just like they are.
Okay, I just commented that the “woman” looked like a man, so I guess I was right.
Amen!
You’ve got to be kidding me.
These two need to be locked up somewhere. Stop catering to these sick people.
Who is coordinating this campaign? A year ago no one heard of transgender and now it is all over the place. The people behind this need to be identified and exposed. Those who are promoting this need to be subject to public shame.
Which one is a girl ?
she is still XX.
nothing can change that.
I find it revolting when a parent enables a child’s mental illness and then demands that others also act as enablers. The best answer is for parents to act in their children’s best interest, but so many parents refuse to do so. Alternate solution:
Change all restroom/locker-room signs to read: “XX” or “XY”.
I’m okay with pretending that this mentally disturbed girl is male, so long as we send her to the locker-room and restroom that matches her genetics. I’d rather act in her best interests, and provide the mental health help that would help her to accept the fact that she was born XX, but the parents clearly refuse to permit that option.
Faggot journalists in newsrooms are responsible for the "pink journalism" we experience every day insisting these are the key issues of the day while maintaining a "don't ask, don't tell" lifestyle to push their propaganda on the public.
Which one of those two is Obama ?
Is it just me, or does this entire story read like: "LOOK AT ME!!!! LOOK AT ME!!!! Stoppit! Why is everyone looking at me?!!!"
Well put. People like this don't need widespread acceptance, they need help.
I don’t know, but I much rather have an ap that blocks images like this from my PC than one that blocks all mention of Miley Cyrus or filters out pr0n!
Ughhhhh! Where’s the barf warning! They are the reason paper bags were invented.
The good news is that if I re-enroll in college and wear a wig, I’ll be allowed to check out the girls’ locker rooms...
Nice!
I suggest the White House.
