ROSEVILLE, Minn. - Sometimes, what happens in broad daylight is the most shocking.
Right in front of the Armed Forces recruiting station just after lunch on Tuesday, two Army war veterans, who are also recruiters, were walking toward the door in the crosswalk when the driver of a Jeep SUV hit them.
One of them, Travis Torgerson, was pinned under the SUV.
But the driver didn't stop, even though police say they are fairly certain he knew Torgerson was trapped underneath.
The driver literally dragged Torgerson, who was in full army uniform, more than a half a mile.
What's worse is what police say he did mid-way through.
"At one point the driver of the Jeep got out of the vehicle and physically kicked the individual underneath the vehicle," Roseville Police Lt. Lorne Rosand said.
At the 7 tenths of a mile point Torgerson was able to free himself and when police arrived they had to cut his uniform off his body to treat his injuries.
The suspect kept going and wound up at a Motel 6 around the corner.
Police say he demanded staff in the lobby call him a cab. They called police instead.
"Management said this individual was extremely nervous when the squad pulled in and immediately tried to hide himself, and when the squad passed he jetted out of the business," Rosand said.
Within minutes he was caught on foot and taken into custody. Police say he is a 52-year-old St. Paul man that has had numerous run ins with Roseville Police in the last few years.
Torgerson had surgery on his leg at HCMC late Tuesday night. His mother said he would recover from his injuries.
The other Army Veteran hit was not injured.
I'm baffled as to why a decent ID of the perp. was not provided.
It’s a mystery.
Somali?
Amish
Active Duty/Retiree Ping.
Stay safe out there.
either black or an illegal alien...
illegal aliens get called “a Roseville man” eventhough they are really “a Mexico City man”
You know why.
He is likely a Somali.
ROSEVILLE, Minn. (WCCO) Roseville police are trying to figure out why a man ran into two men with his car Tuesday, and then kept driving.
One of the men was dragged nearly three quarters of a mile.
It happened about 1:40 p.m. as the men walked back from lunch near the Roseville Shopping Center.
They were hit right in front of their U.S. Army recruiting office.
I see them on a daily basis here, said Marine recruiter Phi Sze, whose office right next door. Its a shock to hear something like this would happen.
Sze was working when Staff Sgt. Michael Stroud and Sgt. First Class Travis Torgerson were walking back from lunch. The two were just feet from the front door when a Jeep Cherokee hit them going about 12 miles an hour. Stroud, 29, of Brooklyn Center, went over the Jeeps hood, but is OK. Torgerson, 42, of Circle Pines, wasnt as lucky.
Police say Torgersons right leg was caught in the undercarriage of the Jeep and was dragged nearly one mile before the vehicle finally stopped.
SNIP
Police say the driver, 52-year-old Enrico Darius Taylor of St. Paul, continued to drive even after he heard Torgersons pleas for help. He eventually ditched the vehicle near a Motel 6. Workers there became suspicious after he asked them to call for a cab. They called police.
Taylor, who has a lengthy criminal history, was later arrested at a nearby car dealership. Torgerson was rushed to HCMC and has two broken bones in his right leg. A man who served his country overseas, nearly killed feet from where he works.
Im disgusted by it, Rosand said. I think anyone would be. To know this individual continued to drive his vehicle knowing that there was another individual beneath his car.
Torgerson has a wife and two children and is in satisfactory condition in the hospital. Stroud is married.
Taylor admitted to police that he knew he had struck two pedestrians and fled the scene. He said he panicked once he heard screaming, he stopped and attempted to pull the pedestrian from beneath his vehicle. That statement conflicts with the victims statement. In the last three years, Taylor has had eight contacts/arrests with the Roseville Police Department.
Most of Taylors arrests are associated with defrauding/swindling citizens by alleging car problems and seeking cash for repairs.
Its likely Taylor may have been in the Best Buy or Dicks Sporting Goods parking lot asking people for money alleging his car was in need of repair. If you had contact with him, call Roseville police at 651-792-7008.
Taylor was eventually booked at Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center for felony criminal vehicular injury.

Video with perp arrested.
I am baffled why the fact that the guy was a veteran makes any difference?
I don’t care who or what the guy was that this happened too. There are times that the retaliatory justice system in Old Testament appeals to me. An eye for an eye and a dragged behind the jeep for a dragged behind the jeep.
Thanks.
They have to label everyone, gay, elderly, wealthy, poor etc.
Thanks - that closes the loop...
Looks just like Obama’s son. Cowardly bastard.
Black and scruffy.
Agreed
It’s a younger pic of him, but that’s him.
“even though police say they are fairly certain he knew Torgerson was trapped underneath”
as evidenced by the perp getting out of his vehicle and kicking the trapped man underneath...
geez, these cops are really quite sharp, aren’t they.
What! No pictures of him as a 12 year old alter boy?
nope.
