How about fast food robots? They can cook, clean and serve. Perhaps McDonald's will cross train them as technicians!

Someone has to maintain the robots or at least supplied with the raw food materials.

“People would buy and nuke frozen foods before they paid that much for fast food. Or they would learn to cook their own burgers, and they will realize how much better tasting home cooked is.”

White Castle is already offering their burgers in the frozen food section of grocery and smaller stores. They actually replicate the in-store version pretty well. I bet you are right and that more fast food restaurants have R&D projects that are active right now to solve this issue.

Do you suppose we'll see more of this?
In 1932 the police blamed members of the glaziers union for vandalism against 24 Horn & Hardart and Bickford's restaurants in Manhattan, including the one at 488 Eighth Avenue. Witnesses said that a passenger in a car driving by used a slingshot to damage and even break the plate glass show windows. Glaziers union representatives had complained about nonunion employees installing glass at the restaurants.

You can buy hamburger patties already spiced in some grocery stores, not even frozen. I think many people who don’t cook at home might give it a shot and find that it tastes so much better done yourself.

Once they kill fast food, it might never come back.

They do that, full automation will become much more attractive to keep prices below what the consumer will refuse to pay.

Fast food restaurants already have self-serve ordering kiosks, and there already are burger making robots.

In retrospect, Zachary Taylor and Millard Fillmore should have destroyed the institution of slavery by unionizing the slaves.

Within a few years, slaves would have become so, not just unprofitable, but expensive, that slaveholders would turn them loose. Then the unions would petition the slave states to prohibit manumission, so that slaveholders would have to pay through the nose to support their unionized slaves, and the plantation owners would sell out and flee to the free states.

You know the commie union thugs are desperate when they go after the burger flippers and fries guys. It’s all about money. Unions love stealing other people’s money.

Automation could very soon replace the entire staff at a Mcdonalds. All you would need is someone to replenish and clean a couple times a day.

Not the end automated to remove a big chunk of the labor cost. Order and pay at kiosks. Food assembled on automated line, 1 shlub to hand you your order.

Check out the price of those patties. Expensive!

Women and minorities would be the ones most hurt -- for real. More laboring over a hot stove for the women, blacks are over-represented as customers at mcDs, and latinos are over-represented as employees.
It appears to me to be largely driven by the elite's distaste for the diets that the lower classes get.

Howard Hughes did the same thing with Hughes Tool.

Workers went on strike so Hughes fired them all and shut the place down.

Then reopened and hired new workers.

Probably still cheaper per patty than a burger from, say, Carl’s Jr or such. Obviously better to make your own patties and add your own spices.

They can try, but with 300% annual turn over the employees just don’t stick around long enough to organize, and the industry is geared towards rapid replacement to get rid of the few that do.

Part of Michelle’s strategy to get us to stop eating fast food and kill yet another industry?
