Witnesses to a fatal train crash involving an Ottawa city bus describe a scene of chaos and confusion as it appears the bus failed to stop at the rail crossing and crashed into the side of the train, killing six people and injuring as many as 30 others.
Officials are still trying to piece together what happened prior to the devastating crash, which occurred shortly before 9 a.m. near the intersection of Woodroffe Avenue and Fallowfield Road.

Was it a gated crossing? Doesn’t appear to be.
It's laying right there on the asphalt, the bus slammed through it.
You know, sometimes drivers simply run into things. Could have been a train, could have been a bridge abutment, or the back of a stopped tractor-trailer.
Very curious to learn of the bus driver’s name. Jihadi?
It’s actually not obvious to me. I see some junk on the road but I don’t see a gate.
Never mind. Looking at the Crossing light I see the mechanism or what’s left of it.
Dave Woodard was the driver’s name, so not likely a jihadi, especially as he and his wife owned a dog. Dogs are frowned upon by mohamedans. If the dogs are big and black, like my two, they are ‘haram’.
From the damage it looks like the driver bought it. Going by what the witnesses said he may have lost his brakes or had a medical emergency. Terrible.
Sometimes you catch the train...
In vehicle-train accidents, the train wins every time. It seems that the bus driver ran into the train, missing the flashing signal and running through the gate. Six dead, including him, and 33 injured. My prayers go out for all affected.
