Russian President Vladimir Putin said he isnt 100 percent certain that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad will fulfill his commitment to give up chemical weapons.
Putins comments today may indicate that Russia, Syrias arms provider and ally, harbors doubts about Assads reliability, though less so than the U.S., which has demanded a quick and intrusive process to prevent the use of Syrias chemical arsenal and to test whether the Syrian leader will give it up.
Putin said Syria has taken practical steps by joining the Chemical Weapons Convention barring such arms and it now faces a disarmament process under a U.S.-Russia accord reached last week in Geneva that begins with an accounting of the weapons inventory due Sept. 21.
Will it be possible to bring everything to a conclusion? Putin said in Valdai, Russia. I cant say 100 percent. But everything that weve seen up to now inspires confidence that this can and will be done.

As I've posted previously;
On what basis is there to believe that these two nations, one rogue, one outlaw, both on the polar opposite end of the political spectrum, will follow through on what has never been attempted, let alone accomplished? Are you envisioning any scenario in which Russia demands the poison gas for removal, that which has been instrumental in making Syria a regional power on the strength of its illicit arsenal in its ability to intimidate, threaten others with impunity? Do you see Syria ready to give it all up on some say so, as if Syria would ever reveal the secret locations of, as if this outlaw nation working with its outlaw patron in the removal of its outlawed arsenal of death, would ever rid itself of its most effective card in its struggle to maintain its survival?
So, now, we have Putin backtracking. He's not the master chess player he's purported to be. Anyone would take on the visage of savvy statesman, even Chamberlain would look good, if you had Obama in which to pull the rug from underneath.
Lucy isn't even promising to hold the football anymore.
Actually he is. Mission was accomplished the night Obama stood down. That and only that was the objective. Putin won, America lost.
He might but he definitely won’t give up 100% of what he has.
And now, he’s just rubbing it in. And loving every minute of it.
When will the US give up its chem weapons?
He’s just telling Obama...don’t be stupid....nothing is 100%.
One doesn't have to admire Putin to understand that he is a formidable adversary....
