Germany's Merkel greeted by 'Save the world' chorus

BERLIN (AFP) - Chancellor Angela Merkel was given a rousing chorus of "Angie must save the world" Saturday at a last-ditch campaign push for votes as a survey released on the eve of German elections suggested a photo finish.

Merkel appealed for a "strong mandate" in order to "continue to serve Germany, a country respected in Europe... a country that represents its interests in the world but is also the friend of many countries."

I’m not so sure any politician can, or should try, to “save the world”... Lord knows that can become a dangerous platform if the leader takes it too seriously....(or tries to Community Organize or bomb the world into his or her communist or Islamicist image)...

but all the best to Germany...
