State Denying Name Changes To Same-Sex Couples

Tennessee is turning away same-sex couples married in other states who seek to have their names changed on driver's licenses and other state documents.

State legislators banned same-sex marriage in a statute and voters did the same in the state constitution.

The result is, as more Tennessee couples go to one of the 13 states and Washington, D.C., where same-sex marriages are recognized, they are having trouble getting it recognized back home. Complicating matters is the federal government now recognizes same-sex couples and allows Social Security cards to be issued in married names.

The Tennessean reported that attorneys are recruiting potential couples for a lawsuit challenging the state's ban.

The liberal view of name changes, is that females should not change their names when they get married.

The liberal view is that we should have homosexual marriage.

Since the most extreme liberals feel that it is oppressive for anyone to change their name upon being married, why would liberals pushing homosexual marriage also be pushing the issue of changing names upon marriage? Isn’t this contradictory????

I’m going to guess that what they’re finding difficult is using documents that the state doesn’t recognize to enable their name changes, rather than going through the same process anyone else who wishes to make a vanity name change must go through and seek the change in the courts.

Because, of course, they wish to imagine that marriage means something other than the union of a man and woman in matrimony, and therefore, they get to have special perks because they participate in a particular sexual deviancy.

‘cause it is all about ‘equal’ rights; you know, special rights for us, no rights for anyone else. Another part of the dictionary that liberals are creative in re-interpreting.

State legislators banned same-sex marriage in a statute and voters did the same in the state constitution.

So did California, but judges who "know better" fixed things for the poor ignorant voters. It won't be long before this happens in every state.

Since post-modern liberalism is based on emotion and not rational thought they are constantly in a state of contradiction.

I did not think that legally changing one’s name was all that difficult.

Just fill out the paperwork, submit it to a court and your name on legal and financial documents and ID’s can be changed.

No need to mention that you are is a gay marriage.

Ones choice as to who they “marry” is no business of the State.

Why not? I can certainly see the state not recognizing the relationship as a marriage but name changes have always been legal, even unrelated with marriage. So what’s the problem?

Hmm, if I have a polygamous ‘marriage’ in South Africa, can I sue someone too?

Of course it is. The State has to promote “Justice” (Virtue)-—it is the only reason for government. Without Virtue, there can be no Freedom (Socrates/Founders)

Contracts are essential to a Justice System and protection of our property rights-—and Laws and inheritance. Protection of children is vital—and biological interest in children is the best guarantee of their safety and protection. A guarantee that they will be most likely raised by their biological parents is essential to the dignity of a child and a Virtuous Society. The primary Duty each person has in life is to raise and care for their own offspring and themselves and mate.

That “Natural Right” protection is the ONLY reason we have the Constitution of the USA-—to protect those Natural Rights-—commitment/marriage to the person you create kids with is essential to Natural Rights of children and a system which will promote “Justice”—Virtue in its citizens-—so children will not become objects to be sold and bartered like slaves.

All homosexual couples will deny children their biological parent-—and it is obscene and evil to not encourage human beings to care for their own biological offspring. It is unnatural-—all our Rights are Natural Rights.

Not sure how they can stop people from obtaining a legal name change. If I want to change my name to Sally Partypants Featherbottom, I can do so in a jiffy.

I’m guessing they aren’t allowing the legal loophole that makes it even easier for married individuals to change their names, without paying a fee and whatnot?
