Curious to see if this was a targeted attack, or if it was teenagers being stupid. Either is inexcusable.
Since the monument weighs 850#, I'd likely lean towards the former. However, having done my share of incredibly stupid things as a bored teenager, I could see the latter as a possibility.
Stupidity can be rectified, usually with a required application of a generous amount of sweat and elbow grease. If it was a targeted attack, though, the fix isn't so easy.
