A group of more than 20 young men viciously attacked a Columbia University professor over the weekend, apparently because they believed he was a Muslim.
Prabhjot Singh, 31, a medical doctor and an international relations professor at Columbia, had facial surgery to correct his jaw after the beating, which occurred near his home in Harlem, according to his friend.
Singh told the New York Daily News that one of the more than 20 men who attacked him while he walked in his Harlem neighborhood yelled, "Get him, Osama."...

They left out the race of the mob of youths that attacked him. I would be willing to bet that he was another victim of black mob violence. He probably didn’t get beat up for being Sikh but for not being black.

The victim is a Columbia University professor, who lives in Harlem and who has long been a lobbyist for including Sikhs as a protected group for hate crime purposes. If this truly happened as he claims, there should be no shortage of witnesses and corroborating video.
Sikhs are very good friends and very bad enemies. They are good Americans, and truly vicious fighters—someone you want on your side. I respect my Sikh neighbors. They have such nobility and dignity in their demeanor, with zero attitude, only a quiet pride.

Is that true? If so, I like it...I've looked a few times on how to make the distinction and found nothing.
It is a good rule of thumb also Sikhs usually will wear a bangle on their wrist as well.
You'd still be less safe because there are no special protections for white people that there are for Sikhs.

Sikhs seem to keep their turbans clean. Even though their beards are big and bushy they always seem very well broomed.
