I agree 100%. That said, I think what we are seeing is the entire Senate reacting to Cruz and Lee having laid so bare the hypocrisy, cynicism and deception of the process.
In street terms, they treated him like a snitch. He exposed their game and they responded to wit: "Thanks dude, now they're on to us."
That is too high a calling of work for the GOP leadership.
Indeed and very honestly we’re going to have to experience some discomfort if we’re going to win the war to save our Republic.
And yeah...that means withholding funds to the RNC and it means withholding votes for RINO’s. I’ve said it before here a RINO is worse than a democrat. And we’re seeing that played out this week right before our very eyes, but I guarantee come 2014 many on here will be called ‘traitors’ for refusing to vote for the person with the (R) behind their name.
How did it happen? Let me count the ways, going back to FDR. ObamaCare is only one symptom of a very diseased political system.
And that is very telling, Ted Cruz isn't the extreme, the leadership is. McConnell has decided to not listen to the American people. If the RNC had any real balls, they'd call this leadership to task. They need to be tossed out of the party.
Doesn't matter. What matters is now it's "RINO season". Start looking at those "wanted ads" fools.
We have seen this tactic over and over again for many years. You would think that the Republicans would have figured out a way to counter it.
The Democrats magnify some insignificant issue like an obscure word someone used many years ago and then dominate the newspapers for days and weeks and months. It works for them; just ask any low information voter about Sarah Palin or Rush Limbaugh. They will roll their eyes and say something negative about them.
You can see that tactic working in favor of many Democrat candidates today. Then we have McCain criticizing fellow Republicans who actually wants to carry out the wishes of the people.
I had a dream a while back about a nameless GOP Senator who had the floor speaking, when he announced suddenly that he was retiring. I was watching on C-SPAN, only half paying attention, when i heard the word "crossdresser" coming out of the guy's mouth.
On live TV, this retiring politician was telling the world how he and other GOP politicians had been blackmailed for years by the NSA's snooping of his sexual peccadilloes, and he wasn't the only one. Others were being "persuaded because of money i$$ues" and other illegal activity. I woke up right when it was getting good.
I have no point here, other than Benydryl causes some people to have strange, bizarre dreams. :-)
Might be a bad idea if you live in a state with closed primaries. Your party affiliation is an opportunity to affect the outcome there.
If, during the general election, you’re still stuck with an unpalatable candidate, vote down ticket, vote third party, or however you please.
AMEN to that.
And were seeing that played out this week right before our very eyes, but I guarantee come 2014 many on here will be called traitors for refusing to vote for the person with the (R) behind their name.
Somehow i think we're now at the rubicon on that. Ted Cruz exposed more 'GOP Elite' hypocrisy and egocentricity in 21 hours than we could have in 21 years. We should all be eternally grateful to him for that. There is no going back.
IMO, any FReeper here in 2014 who professes that "traitor" accusation will be exposing him/herself as either a poser or someone born without a brain.
The republican base is demanding we vote the right way. How did this happen?
Very honestly consider that some here still blame those who didn't vote for giving us 0bama today. I say, take a good, long, hard look at what has transpired this week.
There is a train wreck happening in the Winston Tunnel and every democrat and RINO is responsible for it.
