Puget Sound grocery workers vote to authorize regionwide strike (ObamaCare cited)
KOMO TV (Seattle) ^ | 9/26/2013

SEATTLE - Thousands of Puget Sound grocery workers voted Thursday to authorize a strike over stalled labor contract talks.

The strike authorization was approved by 98 percent of the union members. It allows the union to call a strike and set up picket lines if an agreement is not reached with employers.

Some 30,000 workers at Safeway, Fred Meyer, QFC and Albertson's in the Puget Sound region are affected. The vote comes as grocery store workers say they've reached the last straw.

Union members are upset the company wants to reduce holiday pay, hold wages at current rates, and force part-time workers to get health benefits through the new government health care plan.

"The employers ... are all companies with huge sales that have money to pay their CEOs millions. Yet their proposal so far would just cut and take away from their own workers," said Tom Geiger, communication director for United Food and Commercial Workers Local 21.

The grocery employer's lead negotiator, Scott Powers, said that the strike authorization vote is "not unusual."

"The important thing is that we get back to the bargaining table and do the hard work of putting a negotiated settlement together," Powers said. "The employers are focused on reaching agreement on a fair contract that is in the best interests of their associates, customers and businesses."

Stores throughout King, Kitsap, Pierce and Snohomish counties could be affected with shorter hours or closing some locations.

MAKE DC LISTEN: TELL YOUR SENATORS TO OPPOSE CLOTURE ON H.J. RES 59
We must oppose cloture on H. J. Res. 59, so that Harry Reid and Senate Democrats cannot sneak in funding for Obamacare. We need you to call your Senators right now: tell them to oppose cloture on H.J. Res 59 and remind them that a vote for cloture IS a for funding Obamacare.

Last night on David Letterman, he said, “Ya’ll have heard of this CRAZY Republican Senator Ted Cruz, right?”

The MediaMatters cabal is setting up CRUZ to take the fall for “Starving Government Employees Children!!!” if the government shuts down.

Yep. Look at the bolded line in the story above. They will blame the supermarkets for ‘forcing’ them into the undesirible ACA, not Obama and the democrats for creating the ACA that is ‘forcing’ the supermarkets to do what they are doing. Logic and reason are in short supply in modern America.

And yet, anyone who said this was going to be the result of Obamacare was “CWAZY!!!”, NUTZ!!!”, “Wants CHILDREN AND OLD PEOPLE TO DIE!”, or even worse, a racist Conservative anti-gay CHRISTIAN....

Karma can often be cruel, but it is always just.

Last night on David Letterman, he said, “Ya’ll have heard of this CRAZY Republican Senator Ted Cruz, right?”

You've hit on something there.

Palin was painted as a stupid country bumpkin. And that smear largely worked. Romney was painted as an out of touch billionaire. And that smear largely worked.

So Cruz is going to be painted as crazy. And that smear will probably work. Because like the other smears, it will be introduced slyly, with offhand jokes. And people will accept it. Sort of like subliminal suggestion.

And there will be little conservative pushback. Instead folks like Rove and O'Reilly will jump on the bandwagon.

Well, at least COSTCO and Super Walmart will be unaffected by the strike.

The owners should break this union, hire as many scabs as possible and ignore the strike.

“And there will be little conservative pushback. Instead folks like Rove and O’Reilly will jump on the bandwagon.”

We don’t have 19 million faked, automated Twitter followers to pimp and spread a counter-meme.

We don’t have anyone in Hollywood to insist on putting examples of the misery created by Obamacare in cartoons, and Popular TV Shows.

We don’t have any late-night comics, network evening news anchors willing to put their careers on the line to tell the truth about Obamacare.

We lost control of the language a long time ago, and now we are seeing what that is bringing.

Most sheeple still think the Democrat party is run by the likes of JFK and Evan Bayh, not the Academic Radical Socialists we now have in charge. Such is the power of the propaganda many Freepers have ignored for 15+ years.

If union workers had an IQ higher than room temperature in Celsius, they might be fighting for Free Obama Food as you need food way more than you need health insurance.

If only the public and private sector would learn, ANY socialist program eventually becomes oppressive.

Employer supplied Health Insurance was a scam and dodge from the day it was created to get around government imposed wage controls. Gee, once again government was he source of the problem.

Now we are hooked on the addictive gimmie, gimmie, gimmie mentality that somehow your employer is responsible for your health care.

How childish! Why not demand, in your bitchy little communist union voices, that all business and the public sector be responsible to pay for food, car, housing, clothes,...Oh, oh, oh, and how about they should be made to pay your TAXES?????? Yikes just what a wonderful world it would be.

I’m not crazy about crossing picket lines but I’ll not be intimidated against defending my own interests. I have little sympathy for them and even less patience - it isn’t like they weren’t warned about supporting petty tyrants.

what I like is that the union is biting the hand that fed them (somewhat intended pun in that comment). We need more of that because the unions and Hollywierd are the only people who seem to have Barry’s ear (and they are BIG ‘un’s)
