So far, I am only hearing about folks who bought their own individual/family policies and it sounds like their rates are increasing to what group policy rates are now if you get insurance through your employer. Any word on how group policies are changing yet? I’ve not heard anything about mine except that it is obamacare compliant.

When I was considering changing jobs a few years ago I learned that to insure myself individually rather than in my current employers group would raise my cost (cost meaning my payment plus my employers payment) substantially; by purchasing through my professional society group I could get a cost only about 10% more than employer group total cost. Why would the group rates you refer to be more expensive than individual rates?

Some I know of will experience an increase in deductible, co-pays and out-of-pocket. So while your monthly cost may not increase a lot, it will cost you significantly more if you need to use your insurance.

I found that our group policy jumped 40% last Nov when yearly enrollment occurred.
