Kelly Ayotte's Letter to the Dopes Back Home
Senator's Office ^ | September 28, 2013 | Senator Kelly Ayotte

Posted on 09/28/2013 6:19:47 AM PDT by Jim Noble

Dear Friends,

On Friday, I joined members of both parties in supporting a key procedural motion - known as "invoking cloture" - to prevent a stalemate in the Senate that could have led to a government shutdown. Had this vote not succeeded, debate in the Senate would have come to a halt - making it harder to prevent a government shutdown.

As you know, I fully support defunding, repealing and replacing Obamacare. I outlined the negative impact this law is having on New Hampshire in a speech on the Senate floor this week. In that speech, I also stated my view that shutting down the government is not an effective strategy that will successfully stop the law - it simply won't work. Obamacare would keep going and we would harm the nation. I also discussed these concerns in a television interview on Friday morning.

While I voted in favor of moving the House-passed bill forward, I opposed an amendment introduced by Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) to add Obamacare funding into the House-passed spending legislation (frequently referred to as the "continuing resolution.") Repealing this law was one of the reasons I ran for the Senate, and I've voted in favor of full repeal and have helped introduce legislation to roll back its most onerous provisions - including the Medical Device Tax, which stands to harm New Hampshire medical device manufacturers.

It's unfortunate that the continuing resolution that was passed by the Senate Democrats breaks the law and exceeds by $20 billion the spending limits enacted two years ago. This is no way to run a government, with short-term spending bills rather than a fiscally responsible budget for the nation. With over $17 trillion in debt, I voted against breaking the budget caps. We must find a way to fund worthy priorities without breaking the law and busting the budget caps, and I will continue my efforts to do so. As this bill returns to the House, I hope we can resolve these issues and keep the government running.

Don't forget that that known Conservative, Orren Hatch and the Flake from AZ sat this one out.

27 total on The List.

So, a motion to halt debate had to succeed to prevent debate from being halted?

"'When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, 'it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.'
'The question is,' said Alice, 'whether you can make words mean so many different things.'
'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master — that's all.'"

She just needs a 51 seat majority. Then she can be counted on in election years.

Yeah.... I guess that whole, “Live Free or Die” thing is just a catch phrase for tourism now : /

Sad for them, my FRiend, but sadder still for the rest of us.

Citizens that no longer know where we came from, and why.

Dear Lord, please share Your strength.

not BS when the potus of the US is a deranged narcissist who sees this issue as personal and therefore above the interests of the nation

and the entire democrat party backs him

shutdown would not stop these people but would glorify their cause as vulnerable Americans people suffer because yes, the democrats will stop military pay (notice already out to be prepared) and they will stop social security checks

speaking of hostage takers

Hatch sold out. He should be replaced. Chaffetz seems like a good option, since he supported the defund effort.

I would have to agree. I honestly don’t think many repugnant-cans want Obama Care to go away. I think they like socialized medicine because they want the government to oversee and dictate our lives. They can exempt themselves, of course. It’s easy to talk about how “this is not the right thing to do” when you’re not the one that will suffer. Sanctimonious **ssholes.

Ummm, debate continues. What doesn't happen is the vote on the underlying issue, and the vote doesn't happen because the debate continues. She voted to STOP debate, not to continue it.

Parliamentary procedure 101.

Incorrect. 100 %. Some are so good at it they believe their own lies. The reason polygraph results can’t be used in criminal cases is due to their very kind.

In a functional sense, she is as bad as my imps of the devil (Schumer and Gillibrand). At least, Schumer and Gillibrand don’t pose as patriots.

Understood, however, we need to fight them now instead of later. Later will be too late; there is no "later". OzeroCare will never go away if not killed off now. The Dims will hold us hostage and then we shove it down their throats. This is not going to be fun, but the correct thing must be done.

If Obamacare gets funding, the suffering of millions is a guarantee. Middle class families have red dots on their chests.
