What customs of ours did he violate? Don’t American truck drivers carry knives sometimes? He wears funny headgear and won’t take it off in court? Orthodox Jews covered that one long ago.

I’m all for a moratorium on immigration and our present immigrants adapting or going home. But I think funny hats are on the unoffensive side of the fuzzy line, not like face veils which are way over on the unacceptable side.

Personal opinions are not valid legal arguments. Hats of all sorts are removeable apparel and no one should have any problem when asked to remove it. If you think it is a religious article necessary to the practice of your particular religion, you are free to wear it in your church, synagogue, temple, or moonlit-granite circle to your heart's content.

If I am playing the part of Moses in a play and to keep the portrayal strong between acts I decide to step outside for a breath of fresh air while wearing the robe and headgear along with the six-foot staff, I am not surprised when a cop tells Me to drop the staff and take off the robe and funny hat. It is not customary to be wearing unfamiliar religious garb while walking today's city streets.
