I never understood why a Jew who is an agnostic, an atheist, a Buddhist in belief and practice, or even a Canaanite religionist or even a Gaia devotee, can immigrate to Israel as a Jew; but if he is a baptized believer in Jesus Christ, then -—poof -— he’s not a Jew and cannot immigrate.

Could somebody explain that to me?

He is a Jew, no matter what religion he decides he believes in, even Islam or Satanism (there is a difference, I think). If that’s the way the State of Israel views it, they’re at variance with halacha.
