Coalition Convention results: Joe Carr is in!
Coalition for a Constitutional Senate ^ | October 1, 2013

This weekend dozens of leaders from the Coalition for a Constitutional Senate met together and voted to support Joe Carr in the Republican Primary for U.S. Senate. The Coalition is an effort by approximately 40 Tea Party groups and 20 similar liberty organizations whose goal has been to unify the movement behind a single Constitutionalist candidate for the 2014 U.S. Senate Republican primary. Participants in the Coalition include many of the state’s largest and most active grassroots organizations, such as the Nashville Tea Party, Chattanooga Tea Party, and Mid-South Tea Party.

The decision to support Joe Carr was made as the result of a process that started in May and included extensive candidate questionnaires and research into the candidates’ histories. The process culminated in this weekend’s candidate forum and convention in Cookeville. Nearly 100 leaders from the various organizations attended the 2-hour forum that featured the four candidates who had presented themselves for consideration. Following the forum these leaders met in convention, and after two and half hours of deliberation reached consensus that Joe Carr was the candidate to be supported by the Coalition for a Constitutional Senate.

The Coalition’s organizer, Eric Stamper said, “The reason the Coalition was started was because Tennessee needs a stronger fighter for the Constitution, limited government and fiscal responsibility in the U.S. Senate and since Tennessee is not a runoff state it is important for the grassroots to unify behind a single candidate.” For the Coalition for a Constitutional Senate, that candidate is Joe Carr.

Well, nobody else was taking the fight to Lamar. We have to get behind the candidate early if we hope to take down an entrenched SOB like Alexander.

I hope he gets in touch with Mark Levin to appear on the show and get an endorsement. Mark hates Lamar.

This sets a great precedent. In my mind, it is a Secondary.

That is, it is a process whereby conservative candidates can make presentations and winnow out the strongest candidate to run in the primary.

The great precedent is to be considered on a national scale whereby conservative and perhaps libertarian candidates for the Republican Nomination for President can be considered and the strongest selected.

100% spot on. And the process should NOT included any of the msm in any prominent role. Why in the world would we allow CNN to host our debates? Let that ilk be satisfied with the crumbs.

This is a role that the county straw polls and PAC endorsements were supposed to play. Then the money and craziness set in, diminishing its effectiveness.

Eventually the money boys will try to worm their way in. If (or when) they do, then it is time to rinse, lather, repeat.

Primary election is Aug 7.

I believe absentee voting process begins in late June. One would need to contact the county election commission

General Election is first Tuesday in November. 11/4/14.
