Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., one of the leaders of a GOP "moderate revolt" on Monday, says he can never forgive Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas , for leading an effort to defund Obamacare as part of a budget resolution.
"This was a doomed process from the start," King told CNN on Monday. King said he went along with a vote to defund the Affordable Care Act because he was told it would get the ball rolling and prevent the government from shutting down.
"It's obvious now there is no end in sight," King told CNN. "This is a fool's errand."
King and other GOP House members attempted to pass a "clean resolution" to keep the government operating for six weeks while further discussions were held, but they failed in the GOP-dominated House.
House Speaker John Boehner made personal appeals to members to vote with him and let him play things out. "He didn't say how or why," King said.
King said Boehner did not apply pressure, but said he believes his side could have gotten about 20 more votes. He said some responded to Boehner's appeal as a friend and others may have feared their vote might have looked like they were trying to keep the health insurance subsidies for their staff members, which conservatives such as Cruz have criticized.
King, who has had harsh words for Cruz and other tea party members of Congress before, said he believes they actually want a shutdown.

Today it’s just as bad a The Rest of the Northeastern States.Liberal and lousy.
Peter king should shut up and try and lead his party instead of trashing other party members that are taking the democrat arrows.
First he said Cruz is a fraud. Then he said something like he’s on a fool’s errand. King was bristling. I couldn’t believe he was going after his own party like that.

I have to vent. Repubs are gonna cave. I hope I’m wrong, but when you can’t stand together you fall. It’s quite simple.
So my question is what happens WHEN they cave and send a new bill to the senate that doesn’t defund or delay obamacare? Does anyone put it past the dems to use that to say, “the republicas voted for it too....”?

Amen. There was a time that I thought he held a Constitutional viewpoint.
That has been whacked by his own doing. The leftist tribe is cocky and ready to strike blow after blow against Liberty.
Cruz upended all that and is now forcing action from us.

Peter King was a fighter when he said he wanted Edward Snowden to be executed.
The problem is he, McCain and other Republicans love fighting for big, oppressive government, not for freedom.
The only worry I have is these gutless liberal Pubs. The Rats count on them folding. If they don't in a week or two the pressure will be all on the Rats.
What did the House do?
1. They voted that the individual mandate should be delayed just like the employer mandate.
2. They voted that Congress should be subject to the law just like everyone else and as it was written into the law.
In time the uninformed public will learn that these 2 points are all we are fighting over and these 2 points are more than reasonable. Also, it is the POTUS who won't negotiate with the elected representatives of this country, but will negotiate with terrorist states and terrorists.
Who is being unreasonable?
